THANKS PYRIEL for the help getting this together.

I started keeping track of a few people I know are faithfully posting there moves. I like to see how people are doing. You should not use just this post to judge how people are doing totally befacuse we don't have a long track record yet. As an example, TSP-Tom is doing very well since October but he had a very bad July/August. The moves column should give you a good idea of how aggressively each participant moves their money between funds.

I got these numbers using the post from each account talk list. If you are a regular poster but I missed you it was because I either felt you were not posting regularly and had quit or you were not posting in the right place. To make this tally you must have been posting in an account prior to 1/31/05. Looks like we'll have several new members added to the list next month.

Since there are so many people posting, I'm not going to add you up if your post are too confusing or it looks like you missed some post (ie. you refer to a move that you made 3 days ago but did not post in your account). I'll catch you next month when you get it straight.

(Milk2 has been e-mailing me his moves prior to each days deadline. I know there are several out there interested in how his new system is doing.)

DrDis along term buy and hold which is whythey had 0 moves.

Can someone post the monthly totals for each of the funds for Dec-Feb? I meant to do this but forgot.

    Extras:

Spaf: When you going to start an account? You post your moves all but just not in a single account thread.

Teckno and Saraho would have been included except it looks as though they have quit posting.

Cajun: You had a couple of responsed which made me unsure if you had posted all your moves. I'll catch you next month.

Before anyone asks, tsptorture and Milk2 do not make the same moves, I did not make a mistake.

One more thing, if you think I missed you, give me a message and I'll go back and check/correct or let you know why I left you off.

Just to see whether I was inputting the numbers correctly or not, I calculated Tom's return the same way I calculate mine. I got 1.33%, same as above.

I think the problem may bewhen Ipostmy moves I use Close of Business (COB) rather than saying my move is effective on such and such a date.

If it would help I'll use effective dates.

As long as FundSurfer/Pyrielare tracking everyone's returns the same way--and I'm sure they are--then it won't matter if our own calculations are slightly different. The idea here is to have a relative comparison.

FS/Pyriel: Thanks for doing this, BTW!

Thanks John. I really appreciate what FS and Pyriel are doing too. In fact, if you guys want any help I'd be glad to lend some assistance.

A relative comparison; I guess a difference of 1.46% to the negative for February was a little too relative for me. LOL

Yes, Milk2 is milk_man, but it was his second system. He started that one in Nov. I say Milk2 because he had actually started a second account for his new system.

That is a problem. I think we need a standard but it will be difficult to get everyone to follow it.

When announcing myallocation changes, I always try to say:

I am making a transfer this morning before today's deadline to X%, Y%, Z% which will be effective tomorrow, 3/xx.

I know that is not the way TSP.gov states it but to me it iseasier to understand that the effective date means you are in the new funds beginning that day (3/xx). So the funds in my accountare up .25% on 3/xx, my account is up .25%.

Maybewe need to go back and give the closing share prices from the prior day once we get them. Some folks have beendoing that. But if we are not consistant, we will continue to see conflicting, inaccurateresults.

    Any ideas?

Can we integrate this into the page above so we can cut and paste into our thread?

I would just post the exact date and time (Eastern Time!!) of the interfund transfer.

    For example 20G, 20F, 30C, 30I @ 11:47 AM ET on mm/dd/yy

This way EVERYONEknows WHENthe interfund transfer order was put in.It is then an easy matter to figure out what the effective date is.
