Thread: wagers and handshakes

  1. #1

    Default wagers and handshakes

note: this thread is intended to summarize the various propositions that are live out there, not to debate the merits of any particular proposition, especially the political ones...

so i have a number of bets out there, mostly for a one ounce tsptalk silver coin which equates to about $20 at time of purchase, and some are for a fine local whiskey instead. but i forget some of the folks and terms i wagered on, so i'm going to list the bets i know of, and whether or not i might be a part of them. if you are the other party to a bet with me please confirm, and if possible link or reference to the thread and terms where the bet occurred (this will usually be the first few posts immediately prior to where i responded "deal").

    1) matched pair of hedged bets for silver against a) rmi-and-or-mrbowl who took hillary for the win, and b) james who took bernie for the win. if either hillbot or bernaldo win i break even except for shipping, if neither of those two win then clink clink - 2 silvers for me.

    2) with ravensfan on the week 9 nfl game of steelers v ravens, me = silver, ravensfan = bottle of rye whiskey.

    3) ?possibly another hillary bet?, with rmi-and-or-mrbowl, who i think took hillbot and me taking not hillbot or maybe the donaldo?

are there any others? i have never been able to figure out how to effectively use the search function on this website so if anybody can find and link to these bets when they occurred i would sure appreciate it.

side note: i will always entertain any proposition, although i reserve the right not to take it and time is fast running out on the election issue. so if you are a bettor, let 'er rip tater chip, let's hear it. fair warning: nekked selfies are the current 'coin of the realm', but i enjoy other spoils of war too.

    ok, some housekeeping...

rmi and james: neither hillary nor bernie won or were elected president, so you owe me an ounce of tsptalk silver. there are two ways we can go about this...

    1) you got out to your backyard with the shovel and dig up with your grubby little hands the mason jar buried three paces from the porch and then two left, and pry a shiny piece of silver out of your stash and mail it to tsptalk who will then forward to me after i make good on his incurred shipping/handling costs. this idea makes me kind of excited.

    2) you electronically purchase from the tsptalk store one ounce of silver at the current going rate (which includes shipping/handling) and then tsptalk - a neutral party - ships to me after settlement. i also like this idea because i imagine each of you begging your wife for a spare $20 of spending money or breaking your kid's piggy bank with a hammer and a promise to pay it back and going to the coinstar machine down at Kroger's and cashing in to cover the bet with a promise to repay him/her back for the theft from the college fund. also you may not want me to know where you live based on the postmark of the shipment so tsptalk might be a good 3rd party option.

so that is that. there is one more bet out on the election i think... with mrbowl. but i forget which side i took... so if mrbowl would confirm who owes who what, i will make good on that. pm me.

well here is the deal as best i can figure on the election bets...

rmi and james each owe me one ounce of tsptalk silver,
and i owe mrbowl one ounce of tsptalk silver.

if there are any more or if anyone disagrees with that, then respond and we can work it out.

so i can't find the tsptalk store link to go to where you can purchase stuff, but i believe tom has a few silvers left for sale, and i propose that all parties buy one from him and specify who it is to be shipped to. if you are to receive silver, provide tom your address by pm or if you are to buy silver pm tom and ask for purchase details (neutrality is a good thing).

thanks tsptalk, this is a great site you run and thanks for putting up with us degenerates sometimes.

yes tom, that link you pm'd me still works. i was able to complete a purchase with debit or credit card through paypal for a total of $20.88 today and instantly received a text/email on my phone with a confirmation receipt id#. so if that total purchase price with shipping is not correct, let me know and i will mail you some pennies (the new zinc kind not the old real copper kind).

the only problem is i had to enter a valid shipping address and i don't know mrbowl's so i just put in mine but don't send it to me, send it to mrbowl please. i originally entered "101 mrbowl avenue", "mrbowl village", state of "nirvana", "69696" but it wouldn't accept that and there was no comment or special instructions box to type in so i just used my real address.

mrbowl, tsptalk has an ounce of silver waiting for you, please pm tom your shipping info.

Yes, got it. Awaiting MrBowl's address.

By the way, for the rest of you, preferably I'd like to keep my silver since they are limited (I believe our silver company and the die is DOA?) So in the future if you bet your TSP Talk silver coins, you should use your own to pay the debts.

Burro gets a pass on this since he was the instigator of our TSP Talk Silver! I wouldn't have any without him.
