I see that discussing hands by talking vs. typing are two different things. Too much typing for me.
The question on whether one is making a mistake is if they would make the same move if they knew what the other player's cards were. Had I known you had an Ace / rag in that situation I'd have to fold. KJ off suit is a POS hand in a raised pot in the middle of the tournament, but heads up it goes up in value.
When heads up and the villain goes all in pre-flop when they have a lot of chips left and their opponent also has a lot of chips it tells me either they have no hand and they are bluffing, or possibly the hand isn't that good and they don't want a call - a hand like Q-10, T9s, or even 33. If you had AA, KK, QQ, or even JJ (KK and JJ less likely since I have one of each), you probably want a call and you don't raise that much. Of course now that I said that I know you might do it with AA next time.
It also depends on the player, how many chips they have left, how many you have, your current table (I can't think of the right word) "persona" (have you been aggressive or passively lately), etc. And of course whether your opponent has a casserole in the oven that may be close to burning.
