Thread: Should I reinvest or ?

Default Should I reinvest or ?

I've been in the C since the '96 and rode the up's and down's since..and sold last month. Alas, I the S&P 500 is going berserk and from what I hear we're in for a long and bull-ish ride. My question to you seasoned investors is should get back into the C-fund? Right now I'm just sitting in G. I've read we are in the 3rd wave of a 5-wave bullish ride so if that is "truly" the case, perhaps I should just bump back on the C-train..again. What do you guys suggest or see?

At the time I assumed it was as high as it's going to be..*wrong*..and headed south..alas..*wrong again*..would you think it a wise idea to buy now at an all time high? Assuming we have another ride for another month would be substantial gains..again..

I'm a risk taker so my answer would be different from others. If the charts/trend/strength looks good, I would jump in. I would be irrate if I had to sit by and watch other people making money.

This bull is going to run for years - anytime in is a good time. The higher it goes the more it will cost and the fewer shares you will own. The fewer shares you own the less money you'll make. Just keep on dollar cost averaging and you'll be fine.

I agree with BT. With that being said, once in, stay in and DCA from there and don't try to time the market as the market will beat you most of the time. I had friends who moved their TSP from the stock funds (C, S and I) into the G fund right about when the market hit bottom (end of 2008/early 2009) and never returned. They lost a bundle and are still kicking themselves today. You need to be disciplined and be in to win as long as you have time on your side.

I got to add my 2 cents worth. If you are young and just starting out, DCA and buy and hold is a good strategy. If you are older like me (26 years of service) dumping a large pile of money into the market right now is not very prudent.
    Is today Saturday again?

    Concur...

But to be 100% in anything requires that you have a skill level in investing that you apparently do not have. I strongly recommend getting into one of the L Funds till you study a bit. My strongest recommendations for quick reading (in order) are:

    Ric Edelman:

    Ray Lucia:

    Burton Makiel:

In the end, why guess with 100% in the market or 100% out of the market. If you set up a stomachable allocation you will make a bighish chunk in up markets and lose a palatable chunk in the dropping markets. But pure gut guesses will result in the Alpo Meal Deal Retirement Plan.
Lookin' up at the 'G Fund'!!!
