Windows 10 PC's phone home even after privacy hardening - gHacks Tech News

... He turned off all privacy-related features during custom installation, and let the computer sit idle for eight hours straight afterwards logging network traffic.

In the eight hours Windows 10 made 5508 connection attempts. ...

Never 10 is an easy to use utility which gives users control over
whether their Windows 7 or 8.1 will upgrade itself to Windows 10.

Hello TSP'rs, I have been having serious problems with my computer running super slow. Lots of sites not responding, etc. Found a way to fix most of it by resetting. Basically allows you to retain personal files for the most part. Wouldn't do it without backing up of course. Make sure you have all your apps backup disks since those will go away. Especially Microsoft Office if you have it and your Product Keys, etc. Lots of effort but it seems to have cured the majority of my problem!

To do the reset go to the Settings section, Select Windows Update, Recovery,Backup section, then select Recovery and then select Reset this Computer. Hope this helps!

Because you mentioned sites not responding, it sounds more like a network driver problem to me.

I've invested a lot of hours into Windows 10 and it's inability to multitask wireless. My issues are now mostly resolved, but I'll tell you their bluetooth sucks and the wireless is a not as good as the previous OSs.

My wife's computer ran Windows 10 fine for many months but for last month or two it has lost setting and active tiles from the Start button and Edge, the Store and something else are blacked out on the task bar and won't run. Seems like she has lost all of the Windows 8 features and she is running Internet Explorer 11 instead of Microsoft Edge. The left mouse button does nothing to the start button but the right button brings up applications. The machine also runs slow but Internet Explorer works well.

I tried to re-install Windows 10 but it did not fix anything. I just upgraded one of my laptops to Windows 10 and it works fine but Norton complained that Edge does not support extensions and wanted me to switch to Internet Explorer. Any suggestions on fixing my wife's computer or problems with Microsoft Edge?

    Thanks!

Thought I would bring this to the top again. Getting close to the mandatory windows 10 update. Anymore good or bad news about windows 10?

Trying to keep things running without "upgrading" is becoming a full time job, monitoring Update, etc. Those who realized that it is pointless to resist are probably smarter than anyone, except userque who knows how to implement a different OS.
