I did see it K, as well as the Women's relays and the Women's gymnastics. I totally agree, Phelps performance gave the US the edge over the French. Well done USA!!

normally i am sort of an engineering dweeb (or a "green" if you've ever taken a group team-building personality course), i like to figure out how and why things work how they do. but in this case i have to admit, i don't really care about why they work like that, i'm just very glad they do.

Why do women wear bikinis to play beach volleyball?

Just to qualify for the Olympics is a win in my book.

The 3 granddaughters and my niece (15, 13, 10, 7) are all at the lakehouse this weekend. They've got been watching the swimming and gymnastics this week, and wanted to watch more last night while Mom, Dad, my wife and a friend went for an evening boat ride. Never figured the girls cared about the Olympics, but they're all pretty knowledgeable. The oldest is on a rowing team, the 2 middle ones are softball and volleyball players, and the youngest is a gymnast. Last night they wanted to watch all the beach volleyball and gymnastics I could find. We have Apple TV so replays of pretty much everything are available.
One of the rare times you will see four girls that age without a single phone or tablet in their hand. They really enjoyed the Olympics. Well, and the kettle popcorn I popped. And ice cream. And apples. And whatever else wasn't nailed down.
Wish I could eat non-stop and look like Twiggy.

'Marathon sex session' at Olympics leads to end of synchronized diving tandem | Fox News Latino

An all-night sex romp has led to the demise of the partnership of a promising pair of Brazilian synchronized divers.
According to reports in Brazilian media, 20-year-old Ingrid Oliveira and 17-year-old Giovanna Pedroso have ended their diving partnership after Oliveira booted the teen out of the room they were sharing at the Olympic Village in Rio so she could enjoy a “marathon sex session” with Brazilian canoeist Pedro Gonçalves.
seems maybe she would've been better off spending a quiet evening in the dorm with her partner, diving.

the news seems to suggest the poor score results were mainly due to incorrect body position and failing to keep her knees together during the dives. no comment on her form the night prior events...

Patriotic pause: US soldier-Olympian stops pole vault mid-stride as Star-Spangled Banner plays | Fox News

Pole vaulter Sam Kendricks charged down the runway in Rio and was prepared to make his jump when he heard the strains of The Star-Spangled banner.
Kendricks, a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and an Olympic athlete, abruptly stopped, dropped his pole and stood at attention in a dramatic moment caught on video that has since gone viral. The Army reservist's patriotic pause came during the qualifying round, and it was not clear if he was penalized.
thank you sir, for conducting yourself with dignity and honor, and for fulfilling your sworn duty in defense of the freedoms we all enjoy.
