I count 382 on that list, plus I actually "reserved" 70, but that was part of the ones I was going to put into the prize pool.

So I show 48 still remaining.

Sorry, I check this morning and they are sold out. They value are base on gold, silver and clad, but I bought them based on the limitation # for this set (15,000). I heard that all US Mint Gold, I can use or count as IRA contribution for tax purpose (is this correct Tom?). FYI: They usually not limit on the # of set per household, but this time they limit to 5. I though it was rare so I went for the max.

I know there is a way to add gold to your IRA but I don't know if there's a specific way to do that. I'm guessing you can't just claim it personally, but rather has to be handled with a retirement fund? Not sure.

the way i understand it is that physical precious metals for retirement accounts must be .999 pure bullion, not alloys or coins with numismatic value. mainly u.s. mint, canadian mint, etc. also they must be physically held in a custodial account by a registered 3rd party, not stashed under your mattress.

some obvious practical concerns with this arrangement are:

1, it costs money every step of the way to buy the physical metal, ship it to the custodian, pay the custodian to store it in their vaults, eventually sell the bullion or withdraw it and have it shipped to you.

2, also you need to get to know the terms fungible and non-fungible. fungible means you own a certain quantity of metal that is stored in a big common pile with everybody else's metal and they will take some out and give it back to when you want. non-fungible means your very own specific and personally identifiable metal is stored separately in your very own little tiny lockbox (both in someone else's vault, which you pay for).

3, the value of gold and silver is having it when you need it. it is difficult to imagine a zombie apocalyse scenario when you would really need your metal to spend or trade and the custodian is answering the phones (zombies are notoriously tough on phone lines) the custodian is able to contract with fedex or ups to ship it to you (commercial transportation is notoriously unpredictable during zombie apocalypses) and you would probably just want to sell it for cash anyways (which is worthless in a zombie apocalypse).

4, there are many 'paper' gold and silver exchange traded funds or mutual funds that offer you an opportunity to trade the cash equivalent of the metal and experience dollar gains and losses on changes in the value of the metal without the logistical storage and transport headaches. both 'paper' gold on the digital market and 'physical' gold in somebody else's possession are worth roughly exactly the same anyways. a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

5, when it comes time to pay the troll under the bridge some precious metal so he will let you cross and escape the zombie hoards, he is going to assign no value to the prettiness or rareness of your treasures, only the raw weight of the actual gold or silver content. in fact you may recieve less than full precious metal value, as it is confusing for the troll to compute the alloy content and percentage of metal in a shiny proof commerative coin because trolls are notoriously poor at math.

6, if it comes time to melt the metal down and make bullets to kill the zombie hoards it is easier and cleaner to melt pure silver rather than have to refine out the random alloy content in collectible or circulation coins. also, it is not clear if silver bullets containing traces of junk alloy metal are as effective on vampires as the .999 pure bullets.

7, the best part of owning silver and gold is being able to take them out from under your matress and admire how heavy and shiny they are and stack them up all kinds of different ways and hear them go clink, clink, clink.

that is pretty much all i know about gold and silver.

I think the best part is being able to take them out and play "Quarter Bounce" with those silver-rounds.
