It could be a Java thing as James talked about at the beginning of the thread. You may need to make sure you have a recent version installed...

I think it worked, I think it worked, said the little red engine, hunting likes with firefox. Keep after it, Cactus. Magic can happen.

Would you - 1- rather see the like icon/button on the same line as the other icons?

#1 wins. It's on the existing line with the other icons.

Thanks for your help and patience, everyone!

I tried to like your post from IE11 on Win7 and got this message:

    Code:
    Message from webpage

You don't have permission to click this button
I also noticed I can't see the Likes given/received unless I'm logged in. From Firefox on Linux I can see them whether I'm logged in or not. I just can't get the Like button to do anything there.

I'm sure if this is the answer, but James mentioned making sure you have the latest version of java installed...

    Yes, on Internet Explorer 11.0.18

Note- I updated to Java version 8, update 45 last week. Maybe its a Java thing.

I' m not sure if Java version has anything to do with it or not.

I was just taking a stab at trying everything I could think of.

The good is- it works for me just fine, on everything at home- AND on the antique system at work.

    Work software for me is:

    Chrome :Version 41.0.2272.89 m

    AND

    Internet Explorer Version 8.0.7601.17514
    - although my work IE does NOT allow Java to run- but I CAN see the like button.

So clicking on the Like button doesn't work, or does it?

I see the number of "likes" in two different spots now. Will it remain that way?

it DOES work, even with the old IE, and without Java functioning. It works just fine. I can "like".

Yeah, my work doesn't let java run either. JavaScript still works though and that's what the old one used. People often confuse Java and JavaScript, but those are two different things. Hopefully the new like function is only dependent of JavaScript and not Java.

I still get a permission error. It may be a firewall thing on my end. I still get logged out before I can finish typing a post.

P.S. Another strange behavior now is when I click on the >> icon to go to the latest post in a thread it goes 1 to 3 pages earlier.
