    Default post-college impacts of debt

My education was paid for without going into debt. One thing I didn't have to worry about post-college. I'm grateful. there were enough other life problems to muddle through in those early postcollege years-like finding a longterm stable job in my profession, dealing with a car wreck and ending up on workers comp for a couple years, etc etc.

Mine was, too. As there was no way to pay back my folks for this, I paid my kid's college, right through grad school, in cash which wasn't easy.

I (cash-out) refi'd my house to interest-only and set aside that money for home maintenance and emergencies, to free up my salary for tuition payments. Now she, too, has entered professional life debt free and my home loan is back on track. It can be done.
