I am looking at tsp.gov and the prices are correct. C fund even and S fund -$0.16

You accidentally mixed up the C & S funds in your post.

It was (C) which was even, and the (S) was down.

sorry about that and thanks for pointing that out...point is, why would it go DOWN if it had an UP day?

Don't get too caught up in the daily moves of the Dow. It's only a basket of 30 stocks compared while S&P's has 500 (C) and DJ Wilshire's has 4500 (S). The media is to fault for that one. For some reason they always refer to 'the market' as the Dow which really isn't an accurate representation of the big picture.

Naw, not really weird if you think about it a bit-

C is the S&P 500- lots of stocks. Dow is just 30.

yes, I have seen it quite often. No big deal. Especially when the markets are pretty much lack-luster right now, trying to figure out if they want to move higher or lower in the future.

Also - don't forget about administrative expenses. They take those out of the various funds occasionally .. so the market index can appear to go up while the actual return goes down.
