pyriel..........Check out some of the broker companies that have online service. Many have IRA's and exchange traded funds (ETF). iShares have funds that mirrow the TSP funds: IJR = S, EFA = I, IVV = C, and AGG = F fund. I use Scottrade as a broker because of their low fees. But, their are other good broker firms too. Some of the investment companies are buy and hold, with fund policies frowning on market timing. Fidelity Investments has a bit of everything but some of their fees are a bit pricey, however their web site is good for exploring options.

Other members may know more options for you, or may have delt with other firms.

With Scottrade, you can pretty much choose whatever fund family you wish without being stuck with any particular one. There are also no fees. At all. Whatsoever.

I like (but not limited to) RS Investments and Strong.

I thought I read on Scottrade's site that theywill in fact charge a fee on no-load funds if you sell within 6 months (I think this is starting in '05, since they now have a list of "no transaction fee funds" up on the mutual fund trading page). I think the feeis in the $25 range.

I've been with Scottrade for 2 years. I'm not sure about the new rules, but with all mutual funds, currently, there is a $17 fee if you don't hold the fund for 90 days. This of course is above and beyond any "redemtion fees" that the fund may charge (someitmes a percentage of allocation if not held, let's say, for one year) The exception to this rule is Profunds, Potomic funds and Rydex. You can hold them for one day and sell and not be charged anything at all. This has been my exact experience the past 2 years. by the way, getting into any no-load fund currently costs you nothing, zippo. Again, things may be changing Jan 1st, so check the fine print. Scottrade is by far the best I've seen if you don't need advice or anything. No frills, of course, but dirt cheap and decent service. Later
