    Default Health Insurance in Retirement

    My husband and I both work for USPS. I will be retiring 8 years before him. Right now we both have our own health insurance. Is there a problem with me switching over to his policy and making it a family policy. Would I have to do this 5 years before I retire. I know there is the 5 year rule as far as being with the same insurance before you retire. Any ideas?

    Haffey, have you every been on the USPS website and seen the
    retirement videos. I don't work for the Postal Service, but when
    I came across those videos, I found them most informative.

    I believe you should keep your FEHB and find the cheapest one
    for self. I forget why they said this. But the video definately did
    cover that very same question. Here's the links;

    I just went through some of the video and couldn't find the specific
    section that I remembered covering Health Plan Benefits. If I got it
    wrong, sorry, but if you never seen the videos, they still may be of
    some help to you. Your Most Welcome !

    self only is cheaper than self and family. Both of my parents are retired feds, both are Medicare primary and BCBS secondary, self-only.

    Thanks for these links. The first one worked for me and I found out some things new (to me) already. The second and third links won't work for me and I get a "not authorized" page
