    Default Possible infection?

    Tom:

A little while ago I started getting this message popping up on any TSPTALK page.

    virus-signs.JPG

I have run my own virus software, and it's not on my machine. I have checked on my pathways and it seems to be something on your server.

I am turning out till I can track down what it is. You may want to double check your server and run a virus check.

    Thanks

I just opened TSP Talk and got a warning asking if I wanted to download that program. I clicked no and disregarded it. My antivirus is Norton 360 and it did not register any type of warning and I wondered why not.

I can see a few websites complaining about this. It sounds like it may be a browser setting that you can opt out of. Why it only pops up on our forum, I don't know. I haven't seen it yet myself (using IE).

I did some digging and read that adding tsptalk.com to your Trusted Sites in IE's Internet Options might help.

    > In your IE browser
    > Tools
    > Internet Options
    > Security Tab
    > Trusted Sites
    > Sites

I already had this added (*.tsptalk.com) so maybe that is why I haven't seen it.

Here's some info on the wtp101 ... EVIDON

I retract my previous statement. I have gotten that pop-up. Just not in the same style that James showed. I thought it was something that was coming up because of a job site my wife was on. I did check the wtp101 with norton and it showed as a safe site. It hasn't shown up today. But I did shutdown the computer last night because of storms in the area.

This is what the timeline was for this pop-up. First it showed up after I downloaded the new TSP toolbar picks. The wife had 2 IE windows open looking at jobs and I had 2 IE windows open watching Yahoo Finance and TSP. I went to the thread and clicked on the link for the new toolbar functions. After I chose download it said it had to shutdown the open windows which seemed to take forever so I started to shut them down manually. Everything downloaded fine and then a window popped up asking if I wanted to open previous session. I chose yes and the two windows opened with TSP and Yahoo Finance. That's when this window at the bottom wanted me to open or save pcon at wtp101. It came up every once in awhile and I would just X out of it. Again I just thought it had something to do with the job search my wife was doing. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Did you try the "Trusted Sites" adjustment from my prior post? I'm just wonering if that helped anyone.

No I haven't. But it hasn't popped up at all today and I'm on my home computer.
