Delayed email notifications

For any of you that subscribe to threads in order to get emails when a new post is made, can you check the header paths of the emails and see if they contain a domain listed as, mail5.webair.com and a spam filter called Spam Assassin 3.1.7.? I think my instant notifications are being delayed by these on a pretty regular basis. I dont think its my email provider since no other domaind from which I recieve email contain these. Only ones originating from tsptalk.com. Are these thing part of tsptalk and if so how can I prevent my messages from being delayed.

I think I tracked it down. Most likely aol, or yahoo causing the delays. The info in the headers misled me into placing the blame in the wrong direction. Currently trying to find a server compatable with my phone that wont cause delays.

I did more testing creating different paths to follow and compare. Since my cell service provider supports only certian email providers I am limited to them for email to my Motorola V3 phone. My choices are AOL, Yahoo, MSN/Hotmail, Bell South. I couldnt find out how to get free Bell South so I did not test them. MSN/Hotmail performs the best it seems. Below is a list of the paths and results. Its odd you will notice that when routed thru comcast first, aol did ok, but directly from webair aol failed. Yahoo is the worst creating delays no matter how I routed it. All paths begin with webair since they are the host for this forum.

webair>yahoo=delays
webair>comcast>yahoo=delays
webair>aol=delays
webair>comcast>aol=timely
webair>hotmail=timley
webair>comcast>hotmail=timley

I've addressed thread email subscription delays recently with Tom. I too share your disappointment with delays. Some have been delayed up to two days. The last couple of days the updates have only lagged 20 - 30 minutes.
I use WXP/OXP/5MBPS Cable Modem. Kind of a bummer. It used to be pretty reliable several days ago.

I found that it was my email provider(s) causing the delays. The free ones you know, you get what you pay for. I found that MSN/Hotmail is not perfect but pretty dang reliable and my best choice thus far. Knock on wood. Who is your email provider? Same delays on both home and work computor? Below is a link to an article that might shed some light. It helped me understand. This article discusses mainly yahoo but the same holds true for aol and other servers im sure.

I use my home for all TspTalk email traffic.

Five, You might wanna try a free email account from hotmail.com. Open one first and make sure the spam filters are on low setting. Then go to forum and change your email to the hotmail. Its a weekend now and thats the best time to test since there is no trading. Subscribe to some of the active threads to generate email notifications. When they come to your hotmail account check the headers for timing. Dont get confused by the time difference. On my emails there is a 5 hour zone difference as well as forum reporting in standard hours and hotmail reporting in military time. Example, sent from forum 1:30pm delivered by hotmail 18:30 would indicate timely delivery. Thats the way mine shows up anyway. Good luck and let me know what you come up with.

The work around I currently use is my TspTalk "Control Panel" link and look for highlighted subscribed accounts at 11:15AM CST. I collect the subscribed account position changes and update my trading program. Problem solved.

Yeah I use the user cp when I have access to a desktop too. Most of the time though I rely on cell phone email to gather info. In my circumstance timely emails are important. Glad to see you have managed.

I really enjoyed the former method though; nice Outlook "fade in" in the lower right corner of my monitor 3-5 minutes after someone made a move or a post. It used to be pretty darn fast. I guess those days are over. I suppose... with 180 plus folks hooked into Toms server at peak hours these days... server system resources are going to get handled differently.
