Default S Fund - basic investing strategy for returns

This is going to sound very ignorant of the whole process but I am trying to get this...

I notice the S Fund is way down (17.86, -1.43%). So, wouldnt this be the time to buy a ton of it and then sell it once it goes up again?

    Thanks for any responses.

I am certianly no expert but your idea is one of the ways I choose to buy. I would prefer to buy into a fund when its price is lower than its most recent high. Both the S and the I funds seem to go up and down across a wider span than the C does. Also more frequently. Buy low and sell high..thats the idea. Reality is that nobody can tell what will happen tomorrow or the next day...and so on. Now if you buy and it drops the next day, dont sell or you will take a loss. Thats the biggest mistake of a novice. Selling off in a panic loss. Hold, it will go up again.
