    Default Investing 101

Bottom Line up front = I don't know too much about the market. However, I do know buy low, sell high.

When I first joined this site - I would look at the yahoo charts 10 minutes prior to 1200 and made my decisions on IFTs. If a fund was dropping - I bought it. If my fund was in the green - I sold it. Well - that strategy didn't last me too long. Needless to say, the funds sometimes do a lot different in the afternoon.

Then I started to to read the comments posted in many members talk threads daily to learn about the market. I make IFTs by either going on a "itch on my neck" or following the moves of several of this site's members (thanks sugar&spice/wizard/showme & griffin - you guys have made me some my money!)

However - some of the stuff that is discussed I have no clue what you mean. For example, what do the following mean?

    FV
    Bullish
    Bearish
    Pullback
    SNDK
    STA
    MACD
    IMHO
    FTSE
    MA

Ps....as I stated at the beginning of this thread, i don't know too much about the market. Can this web site insert a glossary page for us beginners?

Any advise is welcomed - 2easy!

However - some of the stuff that is discussed I have no clue what you mean. For example, what do the following mean?

FV = Fair Value, used for the I fund
Bullish = Market is going up
Bearish = Market is going down
Pullback = market has gone down
SNDK = is a symbol for a stock Sandisk, I believe
STA = I dunno off hand
MACD = Moving Average Convergence Divergence ( a technical analysis oscillator)
IMHO = "In My Humble Opinion"
FTSE = FTSE 100, The 100 large cap british stock market index, similiar to S&P 500 concept.
    MA = Moving Average

This is the quick and dirty.

FV - Fair Value - what they do to the tsp I fund to keep us from daytrading to much.

Bullish - feels like the market is going up more. Bulls move the market up.

Bearish - feels like the market is going down. Bears move the market down.

Pullback - a resting period. Market never go's straight up forever.

SNDK - ticker symble for SanDisk

    STA - Stock Traders Alminac

MACD - Moving Average Convergence Divergence - A type of indicator.

IMHO - In My Humble Opinion.

FTSE - Main index in London like the S&P 500

    MA - Moving Average

Here is a really good site (free ) that can help you out with many of your questions.

I use it when ever I run across a term I don’t know. Many of the articles give in depth explanations of the term and how it affects the market.
