Welcome Jeff -
1. I usually only do an interfund transfer. When you do an interfund transfer, your total balance gets moved at that point. If you haven't made a transfer in a month or more and your contribution allocation is different than your current account allocation, you might go in and do another interfund transfer to get those new contributions into your desired account allocation. If you were to do just one, I would do the interfund transfer. But you could just as easily do both.
2. 2005 has been a tough year for the TSP Talk trading accountfor a couple of reasons. A couple of poorly times trades plusI can't usually make a transfer within 2 hours of the deadline because of my job. And I won't make one if I can't get the email alerts out to declare it. No excuses really. Basically, listen to what I say, but don't always dowhat I do.Most here have done that and have done very well. Also, the buy and hold strategy (http://www.tsptalk.com/returns/returns2.html) has done better.
Tom
