Rules regarding 2 Interfund Tranfers per Month
I have a question as to the rules regarding interfund transfers. It's my understanding that we're allowed only two interfund transfers per month, unless the interfund transfer is to the G-Fund.
Even if we've already made two interfund transfers in a given month, we can make innumerable transfers, so long as they're to the G-Fund, as was demonstrated by an example posted on TSPTalk.
My question is this: What if you decide to make your first monthly transfer 100% to the G-Fund? Does it count as one of two monthly transfers? Do transfers to the G-Fund count?
The rules seem so complicated and serve only to hamper participation.

Yes, your first move would count regardless if it was to the G-fund.

For each calendar month, your first two IFTs can redistribute money in your account among any or all of the TSP funds. After that, for the remainder of the month, your IFTs can only move money into the Government Securities Investment (G) Fund (in which case, you will increase the percentage of your account held in the G Fund by reducing the percentage held in one or more of the other TSP funds).

Therefore, we would not process your request until August 1 (the next business day), and it would count against your IFT limit for August.
