This article provides you with the means to verify Chrome extensions before you install them. It is important to do so before the extension gets installed in the browser as it may already be too late after installation. ...

I saw an ad on that page for something called a KeyMouse. Now they are trying to take away the only exercise that I get during the day.

i fixed my webcam spying problem with a simple hardware solution:

    Attachment 36780

but first i cut out a tiny picture of daisy ridley and taped it over the lens so if they do turn it on they can see what they're gonna get for messin' with me:

I fixed my problem like burro did, after I noticed webcam light on one day when I wasn't choosing to use it. they didn't get anything for their efforts, either way, just no second chances.

Yes, you can physically block the lens and I suspect there is only humor involved in some of the posts...but just to be clear for those serious about this sort of thing:

Even though you've duct taped your laptop, you still might want to know what application on your computer is turning the camera on without your knowledge/consent....[EDIT: and doing whatever else...]

...uhmmmm...so you can get rid of it.?!

Also, electrical tape may not block the sound vibrations entering the mic via the laptop housing...if you even remembered to tape the mic port as well.

Some may be relying on the little light.

Errata Security: How to disable webcam light on Windows

In recent news, it was revealed the FBI has a "virus" that will record a suspect through the webcam secretly, without turning on the LED light. Some researchers showed this working on an older Macbook. In this post, we do it on Windows.

While you may not be a criminal (a common argument of those that don't care about uncle sam getting in their business) , you don't want a rogue/disgruntled/perverted/criminal FBI/NSA/ETC employee doing whatever with your videos, images, audio, data, etc.

Years ago, I recall reading about TSA agents bypassing body scanner security protocols by using cell phone cameras to record screen shots of the invasive body scanner as it scanned "choice" people. Or, another Snowden type can release mass information about citizens instead-of/in-addition-to classified information about their employer. Of course, there are the hackers that may be able to access all this information expertly (LOL) stored by the gubmint.

    Etc.
