To add a positive note to today's forum...the famous voyaging canoe Hokule'a and her sister vessel Hikianalia left Oahu yesterday at sunset for "Malama Hounua", a three-year voyage around the world to spread a message of global sustainability and the importance of caring for our oceans. The voyagers will be navigating without any modern instruments. They will use the stars, the ocean currents, wind and birds as mapping points for direction, just as the original Polyensians used thousands of years ago.

God bless this crew on their adventurous journey with much success.

Wow! Some of these hit home for me, especially #9 and #10. I try hard to not live my life with regrets and I have a lot. The trick for me, is to change that negative thought as soon as it pops up, and replace it with all the positive qualities I own, and there are a lot of those, too. It's a process and it takes discipline, but it gets easier. I just need to keep that fire stoked under my okole to keep me moving instead of whispering "when I retire, on my days off, I'll start Monday" My new mantra..."Burn, baby, burn!"

I sometimes walk around singing accentuate the negative and eliminate the positive just to do it and make some statement about what is going on. Bad me. No one will miss me when I am gone, just what I do.

I like this song a lot and reading the link from your post made me think of it. Here are three links to different artists. I apologize for any ads, that is what it is. Enjoy and follow the sentiment.

OBAMA SLIPS INTO AFGHANISTAN TO VISIT US TROOPS

    Source: AP

    Surprise visit.

BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan (AP) -- President Barack Obama secretly slipped into Afghanistan under the cover of darkness Sunday for a weekend visit with U.S. troops serving in the closing months of America's longest war.

Air Force One landed at Bagram Air Field, the main U.S. base in Afghanistan, after an overnight flight from Washington. Obama was scheduled to spend just a few hours on the base and had no plans to travel to Kabul, the capital, to meet with Hamid Karzai, the mercurial president who has had a tumultuous relationship with the White House.

Obama's surprise trip comes as the U.S. and NATO withdraw most of their forces ahead of a year-end deadline. Obama is seeking to keep a small number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan beyond 2014 to train Afghan security forces and conduct counterterrorism missions. But that plan is contingent on Karzai's successor signing a bilateral security agreement that Karzai has refused to authorize.

Only American P.O.W. From Afghan War Is Freed

The lone American prisoner of war from the Afghan conflict, captured by insurgents nearly five years ago, has been released in exchange for five Taliban prisoners held at the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, detention facility, Obama administration officials said Saturday.
Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is now with American military forces in Afghanistan.

Bergdahl was seized after finishing his guard shift in an outpost in the southeastern Paktika province on June 30, 2009. He was 23 at the time. He is 28, now. The details surrounding his capture are unclear: Some accounts have him captured during an attack on his post, others put him walking off his outpost during a counterinsurgency mission. An account in Rolling Stone implies that Bergdahl was "ashamed to even be American" and was defecting when he was captured.
