i'm in the military and i think this is ridiculous...figure out how we going to lower debt first before giving us more stuff.
Just an FYI-
The House just passed a 1.6% pay raise for the military for 2012, and then voted to adjourn for the weekend.
The pay raise is contained in the 2012 Defense Spending bill, which passed the full House today by a vote of 336-87. Next, it needs to go to the full Senate.
The Senate commitee previously approved the same number number- 1.6%-- as well. If the Senate passes it with the same number, it's pretty much a done deal.
With the house passage, it looks very likely that 1.6% will be the final number, which will kick in in January 2012.

This is military only- the civilian side is still in a 2-year payfreeze mode.

Your attitude is admirable, but so is your chosen profession. You guys deserve this and 10 times more! Thanks for serving!
i don't argue with us getting more :P i mean who wouldn't love more money right? but when a country is having such massive debt problems, they shouldn't even be thinking of giving any one a raise. just a couple months ago they were threaten to pull our paycheck now they want to give us a raise?! I'm happy i have a job, I'm happy I'm an American and I'll be willing to lose 1.6% just to bring us back to what's America once was.
Now THERE"s a false logic if I ever heard it.Originally Posted by law87;321962...
Son, your 1.6% pay raise isn't the cause of the government's debt problem.
The rich folks sucking up and keeping all that cash out of circulation is the problem.
If they weren't hording all the cash (rich folks income keeps growing and growing and growing, with them paying lower and lower and lower tax rates), then we'd be just fine.
See http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2010/...t-matters.html
The richest 1% of America, was able to absorb 58% of all income growth since 1976.
The problem ISN'T that there isn't any money.
The problem is that the richest 1% have it all.
What some jealous penis envying people seem to forget about those money grubbing 1% rich..is that they are the ones who have corporations and mega businesses or support mega business that hire people to work for them to make their mega bucks off the products they produce, bust their chops and they lay people off..So get off the rich’s ass with your socialistic agenda…You'd be singing a different tune if you were smart enough to attain that kind of wealth.
OK Buster, let's take a look at that incorrect assumption:
So if those 1% are the folks that hire, and since they've increased their wealth by 58% since 1976, And since we've reduced the tax rates on those folks over, and over, and over again...... WHERE ARE THE JOBS THEY ARE CREATING?
Oh, I forgot. They outsourced them all to China and India.
What's wrong with this picture?
Like I said "If you were SMART enough"..It's obvious you're not!
