James,
I agree, it's callous. Hopefully the notices aren't being generated in India or China to save money.
However, I have a bigger problem with Bush's admission on Friday that he condoned the the choreographing of prisoner torture by Cheney, Powell, Tenent, Rice, and Ashcroft.
There has been barely a peep on this revelation from the press. In addition, Obama offered a tepid promise to investigate (maybe) AFTER he becomes President. Hillary hasn't mentioned it - she's concentrating on the "bitter" issue. And, McCain says he wouldn't torture American citizens. Thanks a lot John. I guess Jose Padilla would have fared better under a "soft on terrorism" McCain administration.
Maybe I'm just getting too old. I thought this country was better than the Communists and all of the world's tin horn dictators. I thought we were a country of laws, religion, and ethics. I thought we didn't attack first, torture people, disappear people, and spy on each other. I thought we were the world's last best hope. I guess I was wrong. I guess I was was naive and stupid.
Perhaps, I'll sit this election out.![]()
