RET Military specifics ??

Have a rather specific questions regarding military buy back

Currently 50 with 20 years military & 10 years civil service (CS)

If I understand correctly, I can retire in 6 years at MRA of 56 and 16 years of CS

I believe I would only have to buy back 4 years of military time to combine with 16 years of CS to equal 20 years of CS to retire at 56 with 20 years of CS satisfying the MRA and 20 years requirement (?)

If this is correct, I am attempting to calculate if there is any benefit to buying back more than 4 years of military time

Any input appreciated

Welcome to the MB ! I hope you make lots of money....

Your situation is pretty complex....I'll preface any suggestions I have by saying I'm NOT a HR/OPM guy, nor did I sleep in a Holiday Inn last night

I did do some number-crunching for myself, but I only had 4 years military service to buy back. Maybe others here, whose situation more matches yours, will jump in....

The first question is : Are you FERS (I am...the CSRS rules are different) ? I assume you are, but I'm not positive about that from your post....
