See https://www.govexec.com/pay-benefits...ef=recentposts for an update from retirement specialist Tammy Flanagan. Looks like they are not going to come out with anything before Nov of 2019.

Is it ever any different in the government? Give a government employee or contractor a deadline and they'll work to that deadline.

I'm in the same boat as you, retiring this coming December (with 35 years) either on 12/22 or 12/31, then I'm planning to get through 2019 without touching my TSP (so lucky me that Nov. 2019 deadline works out in my case, and I'm planning to stick with the TSP thanks to these changes that allow changing the monthly withdrawals as you please) while we sell our home and relocate to Florida...renting first before committing to buy there.,..most likely in the Space Coast area.

Well lets hope OPM doesn't mess with our pension. Retired in 2012, 38 years at NASA and almost 4 years USAF (42 total). Then failed retirement in 2014. Made me an offer to good to pass up. I've stayed in TSP but haven't decided what to do after I retire for good. No later than 2020 but thinking maybe 2019. uscf good luck
May the force be with us.

My dad retired to Melbourne, Florida about six years ago. Aside from a couple of brushes with hurricanes, he likes it.

Just read an article (actually transcript) about the Financial Impact of Proposed Benefits Changes for Federal Employees and Retirees:
    https://www.myfederalretirement.com/...cfm#transcript

Really brings home the magnitude of the proposed $143B cuts. And takes a pretty objective review of the chances of the various proposals being adopted.
(The article is non-political although it admits that it is caught up in political debate. Please do not respond with political opinions!)

That's the spot, north side of Melbourne, Viera specifically. 123 work days to go.

And another article from Federal News Radio.
    https://federalnewsradio.com/your-mo...anges/slide/1/

This one is a little more upbeat in that it doubts that any of the benefit reductions will be implemented.

I have noticed your signature for a while. "There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who know binary, and those that don't!". I stated that to my SO and her friend a while back and also that I am only 42 in hex. They still occasionally ask each other why I said 1-zero instead of ten and think I am in denial saying I am 42. I will find it amusing until they have me committed.

My wife loves that one-zero types of people in the world. She still remembers number bases from school and will often translate my birthday card into hex for me. That's sweet of her.

I have two funny stories regarding this:

    1) My wife works retail and saw a young man wearing that on his shirt. When she checked him out she said "I love that -- there are one-zero types of people in the world." He simply got angry presumably because she is just a dumb cashier and isn't supposed to understand that. She just wished him a happy halloween is christmas because oct(31) = dec(25).

    2) This one is sad. We had a technical program manager over a bunch of computer scientists. He was an electrical engineer but upon seeing that he would say "There are ten types of people in the world. That's stupid. Where are the other eight." No one dared explain it to him.
