I will find it amusing until they have me committed.

I have two funny stories regarding this:

    1) My wife works retail and saw a young man wearing that on his shirt. When she checked him out she said "I love that -- there are one-zero types of people in the world." He simply got angry presumably because she is just a dumb cashier and isn't supposed to understand that. She just wished him a happy halloween is christmas because oct(31) = dec(25).

    2) This one is sad. We had a technical program manager over a bunch of computer scientists. He was an electrical engineer but upon seeing that he would say "There are ten types of people in the world. That's stupid. Where are the other eight." No one dared explain it to him.

    Those are awesome stories!!

I was wondering if I was being too engineer-like (that is, nerdy) when I added it to my signature!

USCfan, not at all too nerdy. Great stories Cactus. My SO is a product of the Chicago area High school system which allowed her to graduate a year early so she could move on. They probably do not teach "base 2, 10 , 8 or 16 lest they confuse the proletariat. Her continuing education was in the Los Angeles or San Francisco area so teaching them to count in decimal was probably enough of a challenge. I am not sure how to state my age in computer time as I am not sure of 1960 or 1601 for a basis of the epoch. It is a lot mSec rgardless.

    Wow!
Here it is, my 1000th post!
Joined TspTalk over 8 years ago. Now retired as of Dec 2018.
It’s been quite a ride. Now spending all those accumulated funds!
I did what I had said I would do when I retired. I moved half of my TSP to my Vanguard IRA. Other half remains in TSP, to see how the new withdrawal rules work out. One additional thing....I moved some to my Roth IRA, since I didn’t have much there.
So now I am set up for my withdrawal Tax Diversification!

Retirement so far is like an extended vacation. Visited my aging Dad in FLA, then spent a week in Las Vegas (bet on, and won, KY over Vandy by >9 pts. It was more like 30 pts!) with my wife of 40 years!

Am starting my soccer ref’ing, also as planned. And continuing my volunteering for Sony PGA and Lotte LPGA (watch for me on TV!). And of course, helping my daughter plan her Hawaii Destination Wedding for Sept. By the way, did you catch the Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold, commercial during the Super Bowl?! https://reelchicago.com/article/michelob-kravitz/
Background was Kualoa Ranch, where she is getting married!

If you are thinking about retiring....GO FOR IT! ‘I wish I had worked longer’, said no retiree ever!

Thanks for all the good wishes!
I forgot to mention, but I have been immensely enjoying my retirement gift to myself, my new red Model 3 TESLA!
I could just drive around the island and be happy as anything! Using the sun as my energy source (via my solar pv panels), so no worry about energy costs OR tailpipe emissions!
A retired engineer’s dream come true!
