So, one more week to go before we reinstate our 2 wishes!! Yeah, 3 would be a real improvement....I wonder if Uncle Tom C. can let us know who to address this change to.....or if he can start a petition. I am sure one more transaction wouldn't add too much admin yet it would really help us in our trades!!

Big UP day yesterday on low volume....anyone else out there (in addition to the eternally optimistic Birchtree!) think that the crossing of the 50 dma might be signalling the start of a ride up thru the santa clause rally?! I hate to jump in on the tail of this bear rally but also do not want to miss any more of the ride up.......

Roth! Tom, et. al., for those TSP'ers who have separate Roth IRAs that they transferred into Roth from traditional IRA in 2010....REMINDER! This is the last week to recharacterize those transfers if your balance went down. I just checked mine and it is up just barely so I will leave it in and not recharacterize. But everyone that this applies to should double check. Last Chance!
(I will re-post to the Roth thread later on.)

so I believe today is the last day to recharacterize a Roth transfer from Traditional made in 2010 or by tax day 2011. I checked mine....it was just barely ahead of when I did my original transfer. So I left it as was.

Anybody else did a recharacterization? How did it go?

This has certainly been an interesting October! I didn't get in on Oct 4 cause I thot it was still on it's way down. When that didn't work, I got in on one of the 'dips' and have been oscillating from 'even' to '+2%' ever since. If the news out of Europe gives us a plus up tomorrow, I may take my money and run.
I know BT thinks this is the start of a bull market, but I am still not convinced.

A resilient market in the face of bad news is a very bullish sign for investors. An all out bull rally is not totally out of the question - that's how these things to the upside start.

Looks like you were right on the mark!! Of course, I foolishly didn't follow your advice and sold anyway...losing out on an additional 5% gain.

So I am limping in on Monday with my <1% IFT. Come Tue, I have my 2 wishes back, so am hoping for some sort of pullback so I can get into the market and save some face!

For those of you who have been following my thread, you know I got started on these boards bemoaning my previous bad decision and following the 2008 downtrend all the way down in my buy and hold days. Well, time to rejoice!! Even tho I
did not get all I could have in Oct, my +5.5% was enough to get me back to my Dec 2007 all time high in TSP!!

This does not include all my contributions or matching since then, but it is definitely a start!

Good Luck to all....keep at it, and your rewards will come!

Well, I am fully in stock funds as I wait for Santa to arrive....November had me all over the place, as high as #13 and low as #88 on the AT, sitting at #29 now. Not real sure that Santa will even make an appearance this year! But we can still HOPE!!

    ChessGuy,
Not sure if anyone answered your <1% IFT question. ANY first 2 IFTs in a month count toward your 2. sorry, but that's why the <1% IFTs are kinda limited. Don't want to waste one of your 2 wishes on a trivial move.
Does that change your decision about your IFT for today?
    Randy
PS I also PM'd you but I don't think you read it yet...

I am trying to believe...I am 100% in stock funds. For good or bad, I will probably stay in the rest of the month....waiting patiently at the fireplace mantle!
