in my family we have a tradition...

of opening presents whenever the hell we feel like it. it hasn't always been this way but it helps that xmas eve is also my kid's birthday so we have a good excuse. and we don't really decorate the tree except for with whatever gifts will fit on it. so here is our dream catchers, football sticky (obj) gloves, and a new hat. also we don't really wrap stuff except for in kraft paper, prefab recycled boxes, or shipping packages. we just pretend the barcode labels are like bows or something.

yay! xmas morning and more presents!

so i found and extra hat in the box the red hat came in. and when i went to dig in the closet where i hid some other presents i found a box from two years ago that had made the journey with our move a while back and just got stuck in the closet in the rush, extra bonus round.

so i used to have this friend and in her basement she had this crazy thing, it was a quilting macheen. and one time she asked me to help her move it and change things around. i'm not kidding you, this was something like out of a bangladesh sweat shop, it was huge, like 12 feet long and a robot sewing thing. and she had bolts of cloth on rolls in a rack and everything. well, apparently you can program or upload a pattern to its computer brain and then feed pieces of fabric into it and it will sew it all up automatically. like a cnc lathe if you've ever worked in manufacturing or steel fabrication.

a couple of years ago now she made me some presents and i forgot all about them. i'll have to send a belated thank you card.

so if you take a close look, you can see she made me a set of xmas dish washing stuff, must've noticed the pile in my sink and thought it would help. silly girl, dish towels don't make the man, a wife does. but we messed that part up.

anyways, the dish washcloth has a scrubber patch sewn into it and ringed by snowmen. and the dish towel has some creepy version of a frazzled snowman. it fits right in with my post-zombie-apocalypse décor and her dark personality. life is strange.

my kid says we have a ghetto tree. i tell him "yeah, but it's a nice ghetto tree". he comes back with "uh huh, a nice ghetto tree in a nice ghetto apartment, in a ghetto part of town, in a ghetto town, in a ghetto state". what a joker. i just tell him "well merry f'n xmas to you too, jackass".

then we go back to playing xbox and tsptalk. ho ho ho.

burros-ark update: merry christmas all. we got another runner, a heavy, lion moved more in. maybe capitulation? what a crazy ride this year has been, down youg early major fear, then brexit and trump blast the frikkin doors off. boom, boom, the ole one-two punch. at least the s-fund had the courtesy to trail back down and slap me on the ass once after the first blow-by. now it just laughing and callin me sally. that’s ok, the world needs more laughter, and more sally’s. it is all for a reason.

    Attachment 40358

    burros-ark signal:
hold. burros-ark is going to ride out the year in g-fund, no trade this week, so as to start the new year at zero as is the tradition. burrocrat account is also holding tight and gonna get born again in january. not a bad showing i guess, not negative, and beating all but the riskiest of funds or at least holding our own. hold. the risk, the uncertainty, the neediness of all those wanting reassured and searching for a market savior are just too much for me, this thing has the potential to go very very wrong, and we have a $20 trillion debt overhang with the low end only able to find part time service tasks to do for cake. but get hungry my friends, and know where your bread gets buttered. for now, hold.

burros-ark stuff: it has been a good year. i got lots of stuff. and i’m very thankful for that. we could talk about the possessions, but really it is the events, and the time. new truck, new rifle, new exercise macheen, many accessories, nice trinkets, all of that. but it all pales in comparison to the things that really matter. we got life (time), and food, and shelter, and heat, everything else is just bonus round comfort stuff. and as he often does, god also put in front of us opportunities to serve. so that’s what we did, in our own way. merry christmas all, and to all a good fight.

    All true, Burro, all true...
Remember and praise what is important...

By the way, the herd decided to run right by my pride. Events inched me out of my slumber. Kinda like the grass I'm laying in. Get fed without too much running around, you know...
Lookin' up at the 'G Fund'!!!

hey there james, a little late of a thank you on my part, but i got the silver, you're a man of your word. and thanks to tom for facilitating the transaction, the case and foam cushion surround is a very nice touch.

i keep it in my new pickup for good luck or for bartering with zombies during the apocaplypse. today it is hovering at that dangerous temp of 30, too warm to snow and not cold enough to freeze the rain. until it hits the ground then it freezes over fast. everything is coated in a 1/4" sheet of ice. when it chills down later this is gonna be bad, and under a blizzard warning again. good thing i don't have to go anywhere and have a fresh bottle of fireball.

so i watched my neighbor gal scrape and scrape on her frozen windows to get into her car. she was all bundled up with stocking cap and scarf only her eyes exposed, like a hijab only practical not for religous oppression female repression reasons. she sure can scrape, really puts her ass into it. i was gonna step out on the balcony and wave at her but given my lack of attire the shrinkage would've swift and severe. and i don't want her to see me like that. well, i kinda do, but only if she in the mood to help warm things up. so i just closed the blinds instead.Attachment 40360

hooo wheeee! well, it come and kicked on us again, that's twice now in a few weeks, shut the whole state down, interstate closed border to border, and all u.s. highways and state roads too. if you're in north dakota right now then where you is at is where you gonna be at for a bit unless you're real stupid. i've lived in the northern plains for about a decade now and i've only seen it this bad 4 times, 2 of them this month, making up for lost time i guess, it all evens out in the end.

    Attachment 40370

first yesterday was the freezing rain that stuck as soon as it hit, coated everything with 1/4-1/2 inch of ice, then about a foot of snow on top overnight, trees cracking and dropping all over. now it is the wind blowing everything around making a ground blizzard so you can't see 10 feet in front of your face sometimes. temp is 9 above but -25 with windchill. i heard something i've never heard before: "thundersnow". after the power/cable/internet came back on i looked it up. like a thunderstorm in the summer, but it only happens in perfect conditions in the winter right around the freezing mark. it sounded like a bomb went off right over my head, shook the whole building, then two more boom - boom. it's a mean one mr. grinch. i'm pretty sure the world doesn't begin and end at the north dakota borders (but it can feel like heaven sometimes - just not now), so eastern montana and western minnesota are eating the same crapsicle.

i know your family and friends can be annoying, but they're what you got, so you better just get real comfortable with them for a couple of days. unless you want to turn them out in this weather and have them die alone and cold in a ditch. which, come to think of it, is probably where we all end up dying. but it doesn't have to be right now. down at the bottles and jugs my friend shari is open making sure everybody gots plenty of antifreeze, i talked to a guy from ohio who made it this far then was shocked when they swung the gates closed on the interstate yesterday, it looks like his 'pass through' just became an 'extended stay', pretty sure this will be his one and only visit to north dakota, good, that's the way we like it. go on, git.

so what the heck are you supposed to do when all the entertainment time killing things go out? no power, no cable, no internet?

well at first i thought i'll just get my camp lantern and read a book. but the only book i have here is a used copy of 50 shades of grey. 50 shades? that thing is so lame and tame, sheet, i got one thousand fifty and just getting warmed up. nobody reads real books anymore. so i checked and my laptop and phone batteries were almost fully charged and plus we got a portable charger for xmas which holds enough to run the phone one more round and it was full too. so since att&t wasn't out i made a wireless hotspot and logged on to pokerstars through my laptop with the phone magic ether waves and took the last tsptalk poker tourney of the year down. it was easy. only fog and gata were registered and neither sat down so i just raised and they auto folded. took about 15 minutes.

so now what? fortunately the power and internet came back on so i logged on to netflix and binge watched sappy chick flicks curled up in front of the tv. i picked daryl hannah movies. i do that sometimes.

first i watched 'clan of the cave bear'. it's sort of a love story. i like the part where she is out in the mountain meadow gathering roots and berries and waiting for her man, then he adjusts his schedule of hunting for the tribe and finds her and they have a picnic of sorts and he gives her some quality time. very tender, almost make you cry. i would post a movie clip video but all the links go to porn sites.

daryl is hot though. then i watched 'splash'. she was a pretty, good, mermaid in that one. and tom hanks ever the gentleman took good care of her locked in that tank. but i can see how friday nights might get a little frustrating on his part what with the no lower half lower thingy thing. but who knows what makes other folks love? that is their business i guess. she got a real nice top end though, to each their own.

after that i just went to bed because of all the fireball. crazy dreams.

Have to agree with you burro, Daryl Hannah is a hottie, at least until she opens her mouth and starts spewing that Hollywood politispeaks. I guess in Hollywood everything is peaches and cream and everyone rides around on a unicorn.

Unfortunately for us poor slobs stuck in the real world it ain't that easy. Guess that's why Donald Trump won the election...
