burros-ark update: well, well, well, that was one helluva week. at one point only 4 arkers were in the black and two of those only by less than a percent. these are the times that try men's souls, adversity is a good way to learn about your limits. wheeee! those who toughed it out broke even or scored a little, but the paltry return vs. massive risk don't seem hardly worth it. and i pee'd a little in my drawers a couple times, shhhh, don't tell anyone. i find it important to note that several broke and sold, at least a portion of their holdings and accepted the negative returns. only a couple brave souls increased risk and hawk is incrementally and patiently adding to his gains, brilliant performance.

    burros-ark 8 3.69% 100 * ride
resident vira ytd% weight direction comment
    mouse 5 4.23% 0 * ride
    turtle 4 (-0.83%) 6 < bail
    penguin 6 (-0.73%) 60 * ride
    lion 7 2.56% 50 > row
    donkey 8 6.65% 100 * ride
    kangaroo 7 5.14% 100 * ride
    cougar 7 0.20% 100 * ride
    wolf 2 (-4.38%) 80 < bail
    owl 2 3.01% 0 * ride
    squirrel 5 (-0.77%) 60 * ride
    blackbird 2 (-4.61%) 0 < bail
    chameleon 1 1.17% 0 < bail
    hawk 7 11.52% 30 > row
    el vira 63 - 65 = -2 / 65 = -3%
    exposure 586 / 1300 = 46%

burros-ark signal: sell. a number of arkers have moved some or all assets out, deliberately locking in a loss, and these are seasoned market traders, that event can't be ignored. the appetite for risk ain't lookin so tasty now, best to just gather up the remaining crumbs of what used to be a sweet cake rather than starve and regret. el vira is negative and exposure is below half, danger. sell. doom and gloom, this is going to be a long trek out of this hole. i so want to stay in and recoup this loss, the ark is down about 5%, but it was doing so great! give me back my glory! crap, the ark's gotta do what the ark's gotta do, get out. trade effective cob on monday. sell. as for myself? this dumb donkey probably gonna dance on the edge of the precipice for a day or two and try squeak out another percent, i hope. or maybe i'll just crash and burn, again.

housekeeping: i got a new computer a couple weeks ago and have settled in to the windows 10 interface and got Microsoft office 2013 installed on the $10 home use program gov employee discount download, so it is nice to have spreadsheet capability on a real machine instead of these table-in-editor reports i have been doing exclusively by smartphone. so i am going to make a spreadsheet for the ark updates and maybe save them which should give some more calculating and history and charting options for analysis later. which kind of sucks because it would've been a whole lot funner when we was winning before the market kicked our asses last week. carry on.

Everything is 'funner' when the market is booming...
Everything is 'necessarier' when the market is dumping...

I'm going to try to get the long term stats up after an FFL draft at noon my time... Never drafted in an NFL fantasy league...

whack! omg, i just lost half of personal account burrocrat ytd gains in one day!

oh well, i'm married to this trade now, for better or worse. i'm 20 years before considering a comfortable retirement and i've always wondered what the salt mines are like. bring it. may as well just crash the currency now and go to imf special drawing rights digicredits for gov and rocks and sticks for the rest of us now. i wonder what the fed has to say.

well, karma is quick in my world: went to the cable/internet office to pay my bill today and 'borrowed' this gal's nice gel pen, and when i get home to put it in my pencil jar... the dang thing is all chewed up on the clicker part. who wants a free gel pen that looks like a chipmunk got ahold of it, plenty of ink left in it too?

learned several things: cable girl has some nervous habits, stealing is bad and never works out well in the end, modern communications are expensive but i can't live without them, and customer service counter help at utility companies tend to like to wear wonder bra's (it was the same way at the electric company too). maybe it's a regional thing.

I have no idea what this market is doing - a beautiful pump and dump turns into gains at end of day.
    I wanted a lower buy-in point.

Only one thing left to do...flip a coin - Heads I stick, tails I buy.
I like TSPTalk and I think most people here are well-intentioned but if I followed their advice, I'd be hunkered down in my basement with a thousand cans of tuna fish.

burros-ark update: oh snap, i lost 3+% just for trying to get tricky in a tricky market, i hate it when that happens. it's looking pretty pessimistic out there with almost half of the arkers in negative terrortory for the year and most of the rest feeling pretty lucky just to be holding in the black, except for that jerkwad hawk who happens to be killing it at #10 on the autotracker. not much movement going on, just a couple of tinkerers switching around a few percent of their holdings. what we could really use is some volatility and wild market swings just to keep things interesting, it's quiet out there, a little too quiet. maybe some world news or random events will shake things up. it looks like mt. mckinley got a new name denali which also happens to be it's old name, obama got spawned on by a sockeye he picked from a gillnet which is good because gillnets are bad, the u.s. is going to build some more icebreaker ships to race russia to the artic to protect oil the greenies will never let us drill, and china is cruising our territorial waters in warships as a proxy for the currency war that should start heating up on tuesday. other than that it's been a pretty uneventful week.

burros-ark signal: hold. if you are in you've already lost your shirt so what difference is it going to make if your shorts go with it? and if you are out you've already been too skeered to jump in these waters. hold. there's no compelling reason to move unless you want to try to scalp a big bounce at the potential cost of your comfort in the golden years. happy investing. hold.

as a side note: i am really aggravated this morning because my computer has dumped the first 3 attempts to post burros-ark so all the funny stuff i wrote is gone forever now and this is the best i could come up with as the liquor store is not open yet. also, i did build a simple spreadsheet to track burros-ark weekly and added a new column to follow autotracker placing as well as a row of averages which should give us more ways to look at meaningless data. have a good weekend, all.

Thanks for the uodate Burro. We're in Seattle today for a friend's wedding. It's been a blessing to not be following all this negative cap market action this week. Will miss most on next week too. Hope everyone has positive returns next week. And don't worry: We think all your stuff is funny.

    where at in seattle?

i got my degree at UW for 3 years, and was based out of seattle another 5 years while I worked 10 months per up north.

get a bucket of steamers and a loaf of sourdough, preferably with a few pints of ballard bitter. also, salmon bay café on shilshole has the best hangover eggs benedict on a sunday morning in the world and even better omelets.
