Ahhh...what to do, what to do. I lost 4% this week. No one seems to know what Monday will bring. Bounce or down some more.

Do an IFT now or try to wait until near noon Monday? History shows me that I will probably not get a chance to do it Monday, due to the unreasonable expectation by my bosses that I do work at work. So it's today or will be effective COB Tuesday. If I lock in my losses COB Monday, when will I get a chance to buy back in at a lower price? If I let it ride have I really lost anything once S&P goes back to 1136 (last IFT)? How long will that take? So many questions.

So much good info here, so many theories and opinions. Who has the real magic 8 ball or crystal ball?

I believe I will let it ride for now, if S&P doesn't go back above 1136 in the next 8 years, so be it.

I won't be eating Alpo though. There are much cheaper brands of dog food out there and some store brands of hash and canned meat product are actually cheaper. And taste almost as good.

Best of luck to all of you.

    Eeeeewhh! Whheeeee! Eeeeewhh!

What a day. What a ride. What to do. I went 40/40/10/10 G/C/S/I back on January 12th. I'm so smart. Always reacting a couple days (or months) late. Maybe I should move it all to G. Take the loss and buy back in later at higher prices. It worked sooo well a couple years ago. Not really. That seems to be my method. React late, sell low and buy it back higher. Get out now, before it's too late (for what?). No, ride it out. It's not money til you sell it. BS, you're losing your retirement, sell, sell. No way, let it ride.

Did I ever mention we are a Gemini?

One characteristic is intense interest in a subject followed by long periods of no interest. Describes me and my TSP account pretty well.

    Woohoo!

I am number 1...of everyone on the AT with negative YTD returns.

This calls for celebration. Think I'll buy a six pack of LaBatt's blue. No that's owned by a Belgian company. I know, Moosehead Lager. No still not made in USA. Rolling rock...from the glass lined vats of...arrgh, St Louis. Belgians again. I'll stick with Nattie Lite...no, InBev again. What's going on here? Molson...at least part US (Coors). No SAMillerCoors, South African/British. PBR...Schlitz...Old Milwaukee...yech. Wait again, brewed by SA... Since I like lagers that eliminates Sierra Nevada, Pete's, Anchor and Fat Tire. Sam Adam's is all that's left. Expensive here. Wasn't he an anarchist? Tea Partier? What will people think of me if I buy that?

To hell with it. Moosehead Lager it is. NB is almost in the US. Union made. NB moose regularly visit the US during mating season. It's all good.

Blackend Voodoo Larger is still brewed in the Big Easy. It's a great tasting beer.

Had to do some searching on the web for this. Dixie beer brewing may not be back up yet after Katrina. It appears the beer is being brewed in Covington LA and maybe somewhere in PA in small batches. The contract brewers are still American owned as far as I can tell. Doubt I could find any here in Pa-Ho-nicks.

Funny how most any topic could be made political if we wished...Katrina...recovery...etc.

Best of luck to the Dixie brewery and if you are able to get the beer, enjoy.

Moved 60/40/0/0/0 G/F/C/S/I for COB today. Taking (I hope, depends on 3:30 action) between 1 and 2% profit since Mar 8th. Not sure why I put some in the F fund. I really do not like or understand that fund. Probably should have gone 100% G. Always second guessing myself. Now to figure out when to buy back in.

I have not been keeping up with this thread. On 4/7 I went G/50 C/35 S/15.

That is not working out so well right now but I rode it down so...

What the heck, It's only 50% and I've got 8 years to go. The annuity trust fund and the SS trust fund will always be there right?

I just got back from a one week TDY (is that what a FED would call it, I got too much military time?) to Naperville IL and read all the posts. So now, what to do. So many opinions. I need to hitch my future to a star. Hope it is not like the AFCC star thing.

The night time bar tender at the hotel kept trying to get us to talk about the "Arizona Immigration Bill" and was of the opinion we must all be bigots. He did suceed in getting some people from San Diego and the SE US to talk about the Maricopa County Sheriff and some of my coworkers bit on that. I left. I do not particularly like that sheriff so I disagree with some of my coworkers. It was a fun trip. Food costs a lot more in the "Chicagoland" area.

I met a guy from Rock Hill SC at the school who works for a local LEC in that area. His name is Tripp so all my coworkers thought he should try to get in to the protection branch at work so they could send a guy named trip to check out power line problems. I wonder about my coworkers some times.

Oh yeah, investing. As usual I have no clue what to do. Pull it all back to G and then to C or S at low prices and become a millionaire? In my dreams.

I read somewhere in some thread that Birchtree had gone 100% G. I had to stop and check that one out! Not true of course.

    regards, PO

Great Friday night stuff PessOpti. You sound like a solo guitar playing singer between songs at the local bar talking it up. Just saying, don't get testy, just my way of posting a complement.

    Check this one out.

What, me, testy? You must have read some of my past posts.

I do have a tendency to get wrapped up in things and in a way am glad the politics thread was banished.

No worries, it was just me talkin'. Guess I was missin' happy hour at the hotel. Been about 10 years since I went on a trip with coworkers. We don't do the happy hour thing in town anymore cause we all like malted beverages a lot and it's just not smart to drive home after a few.

I like your FERS thread. I knew where you were coming from right away. It's just different strategies for different retirement systems. As far as who is using the TSP for vacations and who is using it to plan the Alpo budget, you will figure it out. Most members have stated somewhere in their account talk which system they are under. I am a little jealous of a few CSRS people I know who's annuity comes close to my pay. But that was their system and they worked many years and they never got any matching funds for TSP.

PessOptimist - you, the only poster whose name is on today's calendar, the one who's cake must have been the one that got stolen out of the delivery truck - if necessary, we will wake you up with the horn blowing, to let you know you are being wished HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
    -and we do love you!
    birthdaycake nnuut.gif ........... birthdayballon nnuut.gif

I know if nnuut was still up he'd be putting in a few extra drinks to go with the cake - if there is a drink besides coffee that will go with a cake. He'd probably throw in some of his BBQ & grilling to go the drinks & skip the cake!!!
I hope your day was special for you - grandma
