    Default Cormaga34's Account Talk

Don't know if this is the right forum for this, but:

    On Allocation Record
Noticed something very interesting this morning while checking the Tracker Sys's Allocation Record: Looks like a lot of our allocations went to the wrong column, as 8 of them went to the L2040 and that's a fund I have never used (could this be a sign that I should consider??)
In any event, checked others that I know have never used that fund and they also have allocations under L2040. Check it out!!!

Working closeout last week and setting up new FY stuff this week, I missed posting moves several days both weeks, on the tracker and on the no chat forum. Do I just forget about them and continue posting them as of Tues next week?? I think the answer is affirmative. I still have not signed up for the premium services, doing my own moves following and learning from the experts in this forum.

Thanks again to all for sharing your knowledge with us. G L and happy tradings!

To answer your question, I can only count the IFT moves you enter in your CorMaGa34's Account thread. Today you posted you were "still 100% G", but you overlooked making the initial IFT in your account. I will enter 100% G into the tracker for COB Oct 9th. You will be at this new allocation tomorrow. I know many get very busy the last few weeks in September, and the beginning of October with funding tasks.

    Wink Re: Cormaga34's Account Talk

Yesterday I left work early and on my way home I happened to tune in the Dave Ramsey Radio Talk Show. He received an e-mail from a Fed employee who asked him that in these times of volatility, what should he do with his TSP distribution. Ramsey replied that there is always volatility, but that now it is at a higher level. Then he proceeded to give his advise on how to distribute his TSP funds and just leave them there... that this distribution will always give him earning$. I think he meant in the long, not waiting for immediate returns.

Does anyone know or think he/she knows what this di$tribution is???
(just taking a poll here if anyone cares to participate... and then we can start thinking on having another plan if recession comes that hopefully will benefit all of the MB family...

Any L fund will probably do what he is referring to, depending on your time line to retirement. Buy and hold is not a wrong strategy, it has a proven track record over a long period of time. The L funds are a attempt at a buy and hold strategy that is balance every day as you get closer to retirement. They lower your risk and in tandem your potential higher reward.

It I would go to a B&H I would pick a allocation and not let tsp.gov rebalanced every day.

    Show-Me,

That TSP new resolution everyone is talking about this morning, made me think about what Dave Ramsey recommended:

    C 60%
    S 20%
    I 20%

    CorMega,
That would probably be a good allocation over the long run. I personally would get the percentages more even (putting more in S and I). Over the years anyone who left their money by your suggested allocation would definately have a good nest egg by the time they retired. The closer you get to retirement the more you'll want to shift towards F and G.

Recently more financial pros have begun to realize that because retirement once lasted years can now easily go for decades, you can't give up the potentially higher growth that stocks offer. Be right and sit tight.

12 Dec 07: Day I lost $6K in my TSP account, but something much more significant happened: Retirement luncheon in my honor, my command's and the U. S. flag as background, it was a beautiful setting. Got several momentos, among those and most significant a US flag in its shadow box, that has been flown over my command (the best of them all, if I may say so... ). I am not counting, but I have 12 working days to go... 31 Dec 07 retirement date. What a blessing! It's getting harder and harder to get up at 05:00 every morning... but very soon I will be enjoying the fruits of my hard work, amen!

I think back about how hard your father worked - and both of your parents were determined that you would go to the better schools and learn English (so that you would have a successful life). How you started in the workforce at the age of 17 - and were largely on your own - having to live as a full adult. It is absolutely amazing how you were able to take an exam in a language you'd never seen - but God opened your mind and somehow - you read it like it was your native language and come out with the top score. Your high potiential has always shown through - and you traveled to different countries in a manner that few could ever know - talking in their native language and absorbing their culture A TRUE AMBASSATOR. In the end you fully realized (not only your parents dream for you) but your own dream as well. Now after many years of dedicated service you have built a "good nest egg" and ARE RETIRING WITH ALL THE HONORS AND DIGNITY meant for the very best. Your 6K loss was only a brief bump in the road and you will make way more than that back before the 12 days to freedom. Your beauty is measured in so many ways - and at the top of the scale. May you have a very healthy and happy retirement. It was really an honor getting connected - will miss you.
