    Default Cartercj Account Talk

    Hello,

I read a couple of financial publications, including the "TPS Talk" newsletter and I am confused about where to place my limited funds. A few months ago, I requested an interfund transfer to G Fund 75% and the remaining 25% between C, F, I, S Fund. My monthly allocation is the G Fund 75% and I Fund 25%. I have had very little growth since making the change but I was concerned where the market was headed. I contribute the max of 15% per pay period and have approx. 15 years before I can retire. Total invested in TSP to date is apprrox [Edit]. For almost 12 years, before the interfund transfer, most of the funds were in C Fund and I fund. Perhaps, I am sharing too much about my TSP position but I would appreciate your assistance. If the majority of my funds should be moved to the S Funds then please let me know why? And, what signals should I looking for before submitting an interfund transfer and monthly allocations request to something else? Thank you.

Yes, you did share to much, mind if I edit out your worth?

TSPTalk long term allocation can be found here---> http://www.tsptalk.com/allocation.html

TSP Long to short term allocations can be found at www.tsp.gov I would look into the L-funds.

    Regards
    Spaf

IMHO as an old bull you are too late to the party in thinking about the S fund. Stick with the C fund until the spring of 2010 and then slowly IFT back to the G fund before the nesting of the next 4 year low which is destined for October of 2010. If you had simply stayed with the C fund the entire time you were in TSP you would smell like a rose. DCA is the quintessential redeemer of most portfolios. I practice it even in my outside account. Good luck to you - be right and sit tight.
