    Default mailmanusa's Account Talk

Day late but hopefully not a dollar short. I went 100% L income for my conservative stance COB 8/17. When its time to buy I'll go 100% L 2040.

    K.I.S.S.

I guess thats my explaination. When I get more edumacated or if, maybe I'll try some other stuff.

I have some questions. I just made the IFT at 7pm on 8/16 for effective COB 8/17. I see that most on this forum wait untill the last momment before making thier IFT. So is it better to wait till closer to the deadline? If so then what would be the reasons? I suppose some catostrophic or otherwise significant event could take place meanwhile which could have an effect on the market?

Also, by me selecting different stances in the L funds my thought is to somewhat hedge my decisions against error with the diversification layouts of these funds. Regardless of whether some might think this is a wussy approach, does the above statement make sense in general? If I am wrong I appreciate being told.

I dont think there are any wussy approaches. Risk tolerance is an individual choice. Most of the time I hear the "experts" saying that you should diversify but I almost always 100% it in one fund. It's choice and I dont think anyone here will criticize your strategy.

I think lots of members wait until the last minute to IFT because they can't make up their mind and want all the input they can get. I do sometime!

    mailmanusa,

This is something, I think Tom posted a while back. I saved it in my information file:

    Pullbacks

One way to get an early read on a short term trend change is to watch the high and low prices of the S&P 500 during the past few days. The pullback can't begin until we get a lower price than the prior day's lowest price. So, if the S&P 500 goes below Friday's low before the 12 noon deadline, there is a chance the pullback is starting. It should also not go above the prior day's high.

Switched from 100% L-income to 100% G. Just wanted to try the Thriftline method of IFT as opposed to the website. I'll hang in G untill I am ready to jump back in.

That's cool, variety is the spice of life... which did you like better? I prefer the website.

I prefer the website as well. However, I may not always have access to a computor at the momment I should want to make a change. Therefore I wanted to go thru the routine of Thriftline. It was kinda strange since it didnt accept my pin at first but it did the second time. I did not mis-type. Then it took me to a human being. I was expecting automated.

I did a change before noon to 100% G effective COB 9/22. I used the Thriftline since I was on the road at the time. I didnt report my change to this forum untill later this evening. Does reporting late cause any problems with record keeping or anything else? I will try to keep it to a minimum. I assure I am not Monday morning quarterbacking.

I'm sure EWGuy would consider it as long as it doesn't happen all the time since it will show a pattern of monday night quarterbacking. ;-) Good luck...

Sorry, but this IFT move to G 100% will be entered in Weekly Tracker for COB Monday, Sep 25th. Its difficult when on the road working, or on travel. You should plan ahead and make your account entry prior to 12:00 pm EDT to count for that day's fund prices.

Although I can make an IFT with my cell phone through Thriftline anytime, due to my being on the road at the critical times, it is likey there would be times I would be unable to post my changes to my account page prior to noon. I fully understand the reason for the rules. Dont bother tracking me from this point on. It would make no sense to participate with incorrect data. I will still be hanging in the wings and watching and participating in other areas. I enjoy the knowledge and info I gain from this forum and appreciate the time everyone spends contributing.
