My prediction is the Dow will reach 12,300 by the end of the next three months. Snort.
100% G FUND SINCE AUGUST 4,2006
Too risky. I wait until there is some sort of correction. Then, I go 100% S or 100% I FUND. My prediction is within 3 months dow will reach 10300 or lower.

- Put contribution in TSP Retirement since 1987
- I got out from C fund to G fund 4 months before the market crash in 2000.
- 2003 ==> between 4 % and 9 %. I am not really sure. Lost data.
- 2004 ==> 9.66 %
- 2005 ==> 8.69 %
- 2006 ==> 6.53 %

Only a few elite peopleknow that participants of TSP can contribute the limit of IRS of $15000/yr for 2006. A lot of people
I know think that they can only contribute maximum of 15%.
Now you know the truth

Don't forget the extra $5,000 for catch up over 50.
100% G FUND SINCE AUGUST 4,2006
Employees do not have to be over 50 to put extra $5000 for their catch-up TSP contribution. As long they put less or equal to the limit of IRS which is $15000, then it is okay.Now you know the truth

With the $5,000 over 50 catch up the IRS limit becomes $20,000. Age has its benefits. I also get discount movie tickets.
Yes they do. You can put in only $15,000. Then, if you are over 50, you may contribute another $5,000 to make it $20,000.Originally Posted by TRUEHONEST
Good move in 2000. But then it cost you in 2003 and 2004. In 2003, the stock funds averaged about 36% and then in 2004 they averaged over 16%. Looks like you got back in a groove last year.

The truth as I know it is:
1.You must turn 50 in the year that you begin catch-up contributions.
2. You must certify that you will indeed max out your regular contribution amount by the end of that year.
Catch-Up Contributions
(I was over at the TSP site reading about this)
1. TSP has a Catch-Up Contribution program going. What caused it?
2. You have to be 50 or older. Minimum: your about 50 and plan to retire in about 15 years?
3. You are already making regular contributions. Right?
[I'm missing something here]
Now we make supplemental contributions for years, thousands of dollars from our base pay?....
This Catch-Up has me....![]()
100% G FUND SINCE AUGUST 4,2006
I'm bad. My mistake.![]()
Guys, your right about the contribution. $15000 + $5000 = $20000 maximum for 2006.
Thanks for correcting me. Keep up the good work.![]()
My intention is good when I posted about maximum contribution. A lot of people I know still contributing of maximum of 15% because they did not know better.
This website will tell you (who wants to know) more about catch-up contribution & max contribution.Now you know the truth
