There's more to this mathematically/logically; but I don't really feel like typing it all out--but this article does touch on it:

(But first, I will say this.

In order to conclude, scientifically, that "gaps get filled," one would have to compare 'gaps being filled' vs. days where the price "filled" even when there was no gap. IOW, if price tends to revisist prior ranges--regardless of whether there was a gap--then the conclusion is gaps are pretty much meaningless.

A casual glance at any chart will reveal, yes, prices tend to repeat.

Imagine erasing parts of severals candles on any chart in order to make artificial "gaps" where there were none prior. What do you now see? That's right--filled artificial gaps.)

To date, I've never found any rigorous (or any, for that matter) 'gap studies' supporting the alleged 'gaps get filled' phenomenon.

I know this subject is sacrosanct to some and thus, these facts probably won't matter to those folks.

I always figured it was self fullfiling prophecy. The only reason charting works is because people expect it to work.

    • The confirmation follows earlier reports that the suspect in the Austin bombings was down and "neutralized."

I had like 4 different companies- and 3 of the 4 were either bought out or went bankrupt not long after that. I should have bought Apple computer shares- i had just bought my first Macintosh 512ke not long before this.

Apple has since split so many times, it would be worth a lot today... ( one oct 1987 share at $36 would be worth $1,007 a share today).
