Whip my dad died over twenty years ago. Still miss our weekly chats. He had a way of listening until you knew what to do with your issues! All those memories will always be there! Grief can take awhile to get through. Give yourself some time! Will be thinking of you!

So, my Dad has been laid to rest in the Long Island National Cemetery, it was a beautiful sunny day with family and friends, a funeral mass and interment with military honors . I feel much better now.

As for Mr. Market, I think much relies on the tax cuts... I think they pass, but not without allot of hand wringing and negative press, which may provide a spot to throw in my other 40% (if that wasn't yesterday).

Sorry to hear about your dad, Whipsaw. I've been on the road and just saw this. I lost my father at a very young age and in a strange way I found comfort as I grew up knowing I wouldn't have to deal with what you must be going through now. Now that I have my own son, who recently graduated from college, I got to know what I may have missed out on.

    All the best.

Thanks Tom, you're doing right by your son which is what is important now. For everyone here, as we move to the right on the age scale, its a good idea to pre-plan our final arraignments. Of course its not something anyone really wants to think about, but to have something for those left behind to go to and find that everything has been put in place would save allot of angst, guesswork and jumping through hoops at a very emotional time. Have an estate plan, make bank and investment accounts TOD (transfer on death) to beneficiaries, update insurance policies, create trusts, have wills and POAs drawn up, choose your resting place and buy the plot, have instructions for last rights, church services, etc. as your beliefs and desires dictate, transfer property at appropriate times... all that good stuff, organized, while your able. I had to do all of that, and managed to get it all right, I think. Do your next of kin a favor...

    First, my condolences as well.
Second...I know this was kind of a strange post to like....but everything you said is very important. I lost my dad 5 years ago and also had to deal with all you did. In that time of grief it gave us kids something to focus on but, in hind site, that time would have been much better spent celebrating his life instead of managing his death. I certainly have dusted off and organized my paperwork (and will do so every other year) so my kids won't have to deal with the same issues.

Apologies for intruding on your thread. I had no idea on your dad's passing, my condolences to you and your family. Not too many years ago my dad passed away on Christmas Eve, my mother passed away five months later, we were not prepared for these life events to happen so quickly. I wish you peace in your time of mourning, the memories of our dads are emotional but uplifting as well. Here is a little tune to honor your dad and all dads who have passed on to eternal peace.

Condolences about your loss. Unfortunately, life passes and we all get older and deal with that.

My Mom died in 87 on Dad’s birthday. Dad passed in 99. I still think of them occasionally.

I love your post about pre planning. Dad pre planned and pre paid his burial but Mom was still listed as beneficiary on a lot of other stuff. It did as you stated give us kids something to focus on at the time. Everyone here, heed Whipsaw’s advice and keep on top of things. If you have a trust with a bank keep on top of who bought the bank and what part so your decedees don’t have to research who may own said trust and what they did with it. Do your designated inheritors a favor.

Moving the rest of my dry powder into the mix, mostly into the S fund. I can relate with DBA, some worry over rocket man and weak republicans, but I think the tax plan will go through and we'll be rising up off this consolidation. Looks like a hammer formation on the S fund, which is bullish. Looking at the S fund weekly, the index was out of the top of the BB, the sideways action has moved it back in, which is good.

Glad to see you get back in the game WS. Unfortunately I am out of IFT's until next month, but I feel good about my current investment of 40% G fund, 25% C fund and 35% S fund. Now let's make some cha ching...

Looking at the S-Fund daily, bollinger bands are contracting, a couple spinning tops, potential hammer formation today if we climb out of the low open. Hoping this manafort thing keeps its nose out of the market and tax reform. We could break either way at this point. Sticky pants at the ready.
