Re: DreamboatAnnie's Account Talk
I was going to stay of this one but simply can't. I've been playing for 45 years. I have more guitars (mostly vintage) than most pro's. If you've ever seen Jackson Browne's guitar collection...think about 1/2 of that. I know...it's a sickness. I can get behind everything everyone here is saying. I took lessons for 2 years back in the sixties from phenomenal jazz guitarist in Hyde Park Mass who owned a small music store. When I was in the military in early 70's I really started playing with bands, solo gigs, and finally started writing my own songs. I have about 20 that I've kept as keepers over the years and have recorded several in a studio. I will tell you that it is practice practice practice, then start again. For me, I had to feel the fretboard by continually playing scales (major and minor). It' takes a while and it's quite frustrating but it is like golf...muscle memory. And once you've got CAGED system in your head, and you're strumming is rhythmic, you're off to the races. Learning leads, etc follows. I hope you guys stick with it. I used to teach so if you have any questions feel free to send me private message. I cheat these days by downloading tutorials from You Tube on just about any song I like and want to play better. I can't believe all the great free stuff. Best of Luck to all of you and keep practicing.
