Well it was no fun last week if you are deep in the oil patch like I am. This is how things went: +$21K, -$14K, -$21K, -$184K for a give back of -$198K. I've done worse at times - now I can start collecting more oil shares at cheaper prices. I've been through these bumps before and oil always wins. I finished the month of November -$94K which isn't too damaging. When my buyouts complete all the funds are going into oil stocks and some coal holdings - remember we are soon to be under much better leadership in the country.
Very interesting article BT. Thx. The thought of using more moving averages is of most interest to me.
Further down, there are some comments made. One guy talks about Spectral analysis from engineering prospective. Never heard of it. ...the drop size he mentions seems farfetched. I think I will continue to use simple technical indicators.

You must remember that I'm a contrarian investor so everything on my list stinks but offer great values. MRO, BAS, LNG, GBX, TRN, ETE, WMB, HP, HAL, AE, ETP, EXH, SPN, ATLS, SN, STO, SU, ERF, BTU, RDC, NFX, CNQ, just to name a few.
I've now received 157 dividend increase announcements, one short of 2013, but I expect to get a couple more before the month is out Would anyone care for a few oil ETFs: USO, XLE, OIL, ERX, VDE, OIH, SCO, XOP, ERY, DIG BNO, UGA and a few fracking stocks to top off the Santa Rally: GDP, SN, CWEI, CPE, LPI, OAS, SGY, EPE. Now is the time to put fresh money into oil equities. I actually have 17 dividends due today and several of them are oil stocks.
Some days I just can't seem to get it right - try this.

I'm investing in some BTU for my IRA and sticking it in my stocking for a couple years hoping it will turn to gold :}.
