The big boy squeeze is on! At this point I'll take either way, with 50% sitting in the "G" fund I'll ride it all the way down before making a move back in with that $$$

No move for me. I don't make moves on volatile mornings. Too easy to lock in big loses. Lick my wound and see you all again next week.

Nice chart and commentary. Certainly, many traders got caught leaning the wrong way today.

Unfortunately, I didn't get even get out of the G Fund this month. Historically, I am not good with volatility and it was probably wise to stay put.

Which direction is anyone's guess, but the market appears to have a downward bias at this point. Eventually this pattern is going to break, as they all must.

I'm trying to be less emotional and deal with volatility but after the last two years I can tell you that January is not my favorite month!

Time to make a drink! Have a good weekend everyone.

Hey John, if I had stayed home today, I could have made like 10 trades in one stock alone

    Ominous historical data indeed.
S&P has 22 down Januarys (down more than 1%) since 1950 and 13 of those years were followed by an increase of 5% or more.

Updated graph of the 60 minute S&P 500. When I left for the dentist yesterday, the market was climbing, and was about break even. What the heck happened?

Anyone else notice the slight discrepancy on the Autotracker? The I Fund has a YTD return of 1.20%, and a MTD return of 1.19%. There's a slight rounding error in there somewhere.... All the other funds look fine.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll look into it today.

Tomorrow is historically an especially "Bullish" day. Here are the historical odds of a positive close for Feb 2:

    DJIA: 76%
    S&P500: 76%
    Nasdaq: 81%
    R1K: 69%
    R2K: 69%

Let's hope we get a strong rebound from Friday's big drop.
