Welcome. yep a lot of newbies here me too. alot of smart people here. Your right you don't want to spend your life in the G fund but I'm sure you don't want to lose 20-30% either. I like trying to find the lows buy then try to guess when to get out. lol but if you look around as I am sure you have you may already know there are some great ideas out there.
