Heres a thread about that very thing.
Last Month's Best Fund Method Strategy
Welcome and good luck!
Based on 2008 returns from the TSP.gov site, you would have only hit the highest return once out of twelve months. That would have been when you jumped into G fund for July 2008.
So 1 for 12. Not a good average, even in Baseball. This may work in a normal year, I didn't check. Sure didn't last year. You can run through the method real easy. www.tsp.gov/rates/history_2008.html The other years are there as well.
Welcome to the board, lots of reading material here. And friendly people.

Welcome bsfisher!
Where's greg? I thought we had put this system on the tracker but I forget the name we gave it.

Yeh- it was "Last month/Best month method".
I have no idea if Greg is tracking it in the tracker. It was his baby, and actually did pretty well.
Here is the thread for the 'Last Month, Best Month Method":
Last Month's Best Fund Method Strategy
Looks like we don't have it in the tracker that I can see, unless it is hiding somewhere..
