    Default Overrun with Firewood

This has been the year of the falling trees, three down, and these were big tall trees. We have enough firewood to keep an old Kentucky schoolroom going. We have a small house, and it's just me, the sig other, and the birds. We could have someone come by and make it into chips for us, but then we will wonder what to do with all the mulch!

And if they take it away, they take it to the big pile of mulch at the landfill - which at least is not a waste since others can come take it away by the truckload (your truck) if they need some - but you pay big $$ for them to truck it away. It's expensive enough to have them make it into mulch. Adding to the fun, it's hard to get big equiment into the backyard, where the trees are. We got a slope too.

Anyone know of a charity or some place that needs wood? It's oak, maple, and some other type I haven't figured out yet. I don't think it's grade A, and probably is waterlogged since it's so heavy and we don't have storage space for it.

Sigh, I bought the house for the lovely trees in the back, and the cute flora and fauna (except the mosquitos and the deer - they are not cute). But there are disadvantages.

Advertise it in the "free" section of Craigs List and I bet somebody will come take it.

The Boy Scouts can always use wood. Check around for local scouts.

Check with your church, there are several of us that donate cut firewood to folks that we know heat with wood to try to keep there heating bills down, that will have a hard time paying there heating bills this winter. Or you can check with your local HEAP group. That's a charitable/state gov't organization that helps folks pay their heating bills. Normally these are older folks that aren't physically able to cut and split their own wood anymore. Ya get 3 or 4 men together and you can lay in a good supply for some older folks on a fixed income, that really need it, but just aren't able to do the job.

The bail out should not be signed unless there is a White Collar Crime bill attached to it. These cooperate mafia fat cats on Wall Street and their Washington henchmen need to start serving time in a real prison. That will get them back on track.

I suspect you could sell it by placing local ad in Nickel ads or something similar. Check going firewood rates per cord. I did half my growing up in PW in a subdivision as gov brat, we had a woodburning fireplace, 2 of them in fact, one up, one down. Even if you donate it, you could get a decent estimate of value of the donation.
