Thread: Long term strategy

    Default Long term strategy

    28 years old. Retire from FED in 19 years.

    Current TSP allocation:

    G=5%
    F=5%
    C=40%
    S=40%
    I=10%

    Too conservative? Not conservative enough? I initially had it in the 2040, but I was thinking having 25% in bonds might be conservative with 19 years left.

    The L2040 fund only has 6% in bonds, not 25%. If you are a buy and holder, some might say you are overweight S and underweight I. At your age, you can be aggressive though if that is your comfort level. With such an aggressive portfolio what is the purpose of the 5% in the G unless that is where the profits are going to grow.

    Looks good 90% in equities, if you're young or just have a high risk tolerance like BirchTree, then that's good. Why the 5% in G and F though? just curious.

    Welcome,

    You are young and risk averse, you should have nothing in G. My Opinion. You can weather a lot of storms.....

    if you look at then 2040 fund, 25% of it is allocated to either G fund treasuries or F fund bonds. I wanted to keep my portfolio diverse by holding all funds, but aggressive since i have a lot of time.
