HD is a popular staple, as is WMT. It looks like a decent buy point for HD, especially yesterday. See if WMT completes its W pattern.

SIRI

XMSR

The satellite radio industry will become as cable did.



Just sold:

SCSS (I think it will correct, I may buy it back)

RHAT (out before the bubble burst, will get back in when the downtrend ends)

Current holdings:

WBSN - Good long-term stock, too, been in & out, target sell: $36-$38

VLCCF - I love this stock!

TNP - Oil

NAT - Oil, "VLCCF's little brother"

TASR - Just bought it...Kicking myself for missing the never-ending run-up it had until it deflated recently.

It looks like WMT will be involved in a class action suit. Check out my post on"market talk". That just bites. I'll expect that stock to tumble a bit.

Is SIRI the main satellite radio corp?

SIRI and XMSR are the only two. Both are not turning a profit yet, so the price is based on expectations. I liked SIRI better due to it not having advertisements, however, XMSR just dropped advertising. XMSR's equipment is much cheaper to manufacture than SIRI's is, but SIRI has better coverage. Except for some behind-the-scenes details, they are essentially the same. XMSR has much better marketing.

Own both and you own the whole sector.

I have SIRI in my PT and I love it. I will really enjoy it on my 1000-mile drive tomorrow.

You know, that sounds like it will be a good investment. What exactly is the technology/marketing behind it?

Is it better that new cars already have this installed?

or

Is it better if the consumer purchases the system itself?

I'm just trying to understand where this is going. Also, please list any possible downsides involved.

One of the things that SIRI has been under fire lately is that they claim X subscribers, however, many of said X subscribers are on a free subscription (I am one of them) and since they are not paying subscribers,they donot count as revenue. The speculation is, how many trial subscribers will become paying ones? (I will be)

It doesn't look like SIRI is dropping below $3, so now is probably a good buy point. The downside is who knows when it will move up from there. XMSR: see if it drops below 21.

As far as marketing goes: look around you. You saw XM on TV, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy very early. SIRI is just catching up. Where have we seen marketing decide who was better? hmmm....IBM vs. Microsoft. IBM made a far superior product, but Microsoft had marketing genius, and that is why you are running Windows. (Incidentally, forward to present, IBM is trying that tactic with Linux, hence my investing inRHAT.)

Thanx Rolo! I've been stuck overseas these past few years, so I'm not familiar with their marketing. I will track it a while to see what it does. I just may do some dollar-cost averaging with it, as I do my other shares.
