Well......you could start by telling us why you took out all your TSP after retiring, and whether you have any regrets!
Glad you are sticking around!!
All,
Sooo...I had a concern about continuing my posts in my Member's Account Talk thread...since I no longer have a dog in the TSP fight !
...and Tom responded :
So here's my NEW home for posts regarding my post-retirement investment decisions, and anything else that strikes my fancy (but doesn't get me in trouble with the rules or the Mods !!!)

Well......you could start by telling us why you took out all your TSP after retiring, and whether you have any regrets!
Glad you are sticking around!!
There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who know binary, and those that don't!!
Retired on December 31, 2018!!
A little background :
I kept a portion of my TSP intact, to pull monthly, without penalty, when I retired at age 57...full FERS eligible; receiving FERS Supplement...with military buy-back towards my FERS years...plan was to get to 59.5 years on the IRAs, so not to get hit with the withdrawal penalty !!!
Rolled the rest of my TSP, and the Wife's Teacher 403(b)'s, into our "traditional" IRAs...self-directed brokerage accounts with USAA...
Trying a mix of "Buy and hold", and trading with a premium service, with a small chunk of trading money...
Goal was stock and bond diversity, too, with an overall dividend of 4 %, to match our planned "rule of thumb" withdrawal rate...
OTOH, have NOT pulled anything out of the IRAs for a year, after the TSP ran out ! Didn't need it...retirement expenses lower than I planned (so far !), and my Ma died late last year, so we got a few unexpected bucks...
Anyway...a few major unexpected house expenses have come up recently, and we STILL want to schedule a trip to New Zealand and Australia in 2017 ! Yes, Kona...it's still on our list !!!
So that's where we're at, right now...

Thanks, Fan !!!
So that's easy ! NO REGRETS AT ALL !!!
Also, you could read the 9,000 pages in my "Retirement" thread, and around the Board, but one word sums it up :
"Flexibility" !!!
NO "2 IFT per month" rule, and you can put your money WHEREVER you see fit...WHENEVER you see fit !!! I just LIKE that, being in control of MY money...win or lose !!!
Granted...it's NOT for everyone...TSP funds have some real advantages...low fees, etc...and I can even see the annuity option works for certain people...just not my cup of tea !!!
Thanks for stopping by, at my "new" home !!! Hope you contribute again to the discussion !!!

So I'm becoming hinkey about the whole "diversity" thing...bonds and stocks losing money, and gaining money, each day....who knows ??? No rhyme nor reason !!! WAA ???
Bad feeling about this market...I have a bunch of buy-and-hold stinkers that have crapped out...but so far, they are STILL paying > 4% on my buy-in price !!! Hold and see what they do...
Go to cash, for now, on some of the green stuff...Went through my list of stuff that was paying a dividend, AND in the green from my buy-in ! ...targeted the < 4% dividend payers...
First move was to sell all my USAA Short Term Bond Fund...
Studying others for my next move...

Stoplight, glad you will keep posting. Sorry to hear about your mom.
May the force be with us.
Made a second move today...in an experiment, I bought AAPL and DIS in 8/15, ignoring my 4% dividend rule, and expecting a decent stock price run-up on both, instead.
Well, the AAPL has floundered around, while paying a 1.9% dividend....put it out of its misery today, for a whopping ROI of $37.84 on 100 shares !
The DIS is even worse...currently showing a 1.3% dividend, and a ROI of -14%....oh well....I'll hang on to it a while and see if it claws its way back into the black, like AAPL did...

Culled the herd some more today...
Didn't see it coming, but I sold my small lot of CMRE today...it's lost a bunch on stock price, but it HAD been paying a decent dividend...dropped from $145 to $50 this time....bit the bullet and sold !!! Realized gain of around -$4,600.
Sold 3 USAA funds, too...no fees, since I'm trading in a USAA Brokerage account :
USAIX USAA Income Bond
USISX USAA Income Stock
USIBX USAA Intermediate Bond
The USAA funds were on my radar because they paid <4% dividend...all 3 were in the black on ROI...
Hmmm...so the cash balance is getting pretty big ! Where do I put this money !
I'm kinda liking my BGS and my BRKS !!!

Added to my BGS position today, putting some of that cash to work...
I like what they're doing with the Green Giant acquisition ; they pay ~4.5% dividend ; and they're raising their dividend by ~ 10% next quarter.

Put some more of the cash to work today...somewhere on the Forum, I posted about buying in to an ETF...Global X Super Dividend U.S. ETF (DIV)...I think it was in my previous "Member's Account Talk" thread... Bought 2/2016, and it's paying ~7% dividend against my buy-in price.
So today, I continued my "experiment"...bought a companion ETF, but it's a GLOBAL dividend stock ETF...Global X Super Dividend World ETF (SDIV). It also appears to be paying ~7% right now...
Here's the beauty...both of these funds pay their dividend monthly, so it met my desire to have a place to stash money, short term. I MAY want/need the money to make other moves down the road...so I wanted something that wasn't too volatile, and maybe would pay enough to at least cover my trading costs, regardless of the underlying gain or loss....if held for 30 days. OTOH, (so far !), it's not a bad "buy-and-hold" investment, either...
NOT recommending either of these ETF's for anyone...just sharing my experiences and thoughts !!! YMMV ! Do your own "due diligence" !!!

Year end time...see where I stand on taxes, and re-balance my portfolio !!!
Due to a conglomeration of events, I processed my VERY FIRST WITHDRAWAL from our traditional IRAs today !!!
It's been a traumatic experience, and I don't know why !!!
OTOH, I've read about people who have a problem with spending their retirement savings, so I guess that's what's happening to me..."Will my money last us long enough ???"
I said "Send me $X and hold 20% for Fed taxes..." (or something like that !) Painless and fast ; all on-line, through USAA !!!
Crunching the post-withdrawal numbers today...objectively, we're in good shape...but DAMN !!! WHY does this bother me ??? Our re-balance to continue, as the year winds down...
A Christmas story (or two !) :
Today...the mail woman dropped off an unexpected parcel...it was from a Nephew and Niece who we aren't close to...it included some home-made cookies, and 2 lbs of roasted coffee beans ! He has an on-line business, roasting and selling specialty coffees...sent us some Ethiopian and Indonesia roasts !!! OMG !!! That made our day !!!
Then, a brand new neighbor knocked on our door...he had a red wagon full of fudge, and was going around the neighborhood, meeting his new neighbors !!! How COOL is that ???
We've made an effort to take new neighbors cookies or bread when they move in, and we've never heard a peep back from them...kinda' typical of this neighborhood, I guess...unlike the one we lived in, in Maryland ! We had not yet reached out to these Folks, because they are REALLY new...we weren't sure they had permanently moved in yet !!! ...so it was a NICE touch !!! ALSO made our day !!!
The Wife bought a nice prime rib roast, and some fresh asparagus......I'll make my Mom's Yorkshire Pudding and the gravy...did I mention, I'm a "Gravy Master" ???
...and the Wife scored another bottle of Angel's Envy Rye at the local liquor store ! We're gonna crack THAT for the holidays !!!
Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays to all, for whatever religion you follow, or not !
This time of year ? It's ALL good !!!
