Gradually, the media turned against the war. The bad things made dailynews, along with the body count. The media turned against the war.P.S. Did you ever read Neil Sheehan's A Bright Shining Lie, John Paul Vann and America in Vietnam? Apparently the politicians knew we couldn't win the war before Tet in 1968.
I see this same madness happening again.
End of my last rant on this subject.
The draft to a combat unit was very close to a death warrant. The collage crowd could see the writing on the wall. The anger against the warboiled over to everone in uniform. Those that served paid a terrible price. Being ostracized at home was no fun. It was better to stay in the closet. At least you wouldn't be spit on. They had served their country, only to return home to be mocked.
Excuse me, every once in a while I have to open the closet door, and declare that honesty is needed, along with some compasion for those that serve. After VN some honesty took hold, after all the lies. I'm glad to see that there is compasion for those that now serve.
May G_d protect them!
