Why is it that even though the Asian and European marketsclose much earlier than 4:00 pm Eastern time, the MSCI EAFE index continues to update until the closing of the Dow at 4:00?

Good question Sheri. We've been tryingto figure out the complexities of the I fund with regard to timing and how the U.S. dollar affects the price. One of our posters did some research a while back. Maybe it will help...

Words fitly spoken are like apples of gold in settings of silver... Hat tip to Tom and Smedlap for sage insight. I slipped through the knot in the I fund today :h. Am G tomorrow, and will "wait for it to come to me" . Calculated growth since I began following the info in TSPTalk... Appx 11% for Oct. & Nov. combined (not counting contributions). Not to be greedy, but how about another 2.5% - 3% by the end of the year? Howz the headwind?

I agree with Tom 100%. He's putting a lot of time into market analysis and I like his posts to counter my own crazy thoughts. Right now I remain secured in G fund waiting almost impatiently to jump in. But my instincts are proving correct so I have to drink coffee on the sidelines and watch. It appears the futures market is starting to consolidate some more early Thursday AM in reaction to the OPEC meetinghype. Then there will be FMOC shadow boxing andMonday morning pre-game quarterbacking. I'm back in Tuesday morning as I think we are getting late into mid month (Last year FMOCwas held Dec 9). So the 14th is really the traditional start week ofpre-Christmas buying (or late buying) and market rally. Remember, S&P fair market value for Dec 31 is projected at 1225. Let's ee how close we get with a 3-4% gain from yesterdays S&P close! Ithink slightly bigger in I fund but will have to study that closely - soon in Phoenix! Good luck and good morning Tom and Chaplain.
