Them posturiung around and looking like they are accomplishing large reductions in govt. spending by limiting/freezing/reducing our pay is Bravo Sugar amigo.

I'd rather have my pay frozen/limited, than see the 10% cuts in numbers-that would just add more to the unemployment rolls-and another gov cost-just reduced in a slightly different way, a way that would end up further straining the economy even worse down the road.

My brother works blue collar, his industry is cyclical. when bottom of the cycle hit in his area a few years ago, all the other companies in his area were laying people off, his company chose to cut hours and keep everyone working as best they could. As sole breadwinner in his family, I was glad he was working for who he worked for. As the cycle came back up, so did the hours, he was able to pull through without going on unemployment.

Certainly isn't a good time to be a Fed. I can only hope that they leave my retirement alone

I've said it before..Republicans always go for the jugular of the Worker bee Gov Employee..easy target and the general public thinks we are all blood-suckers of the Taxpayer dollars anyway..So it makes the Repubs look good, when they make a move or talk about making a move on our jobs..

Bottom line..It has been my experience in the 36 years of Gov service that these sort of attacks or threats of downsizing is all posturing to leverage something else from the Dems..the end result is usually far less impactive on us as originally talked about...Hang tough..The Government Employee is what keeps the country's gears moving..Without us..Planes will not fly, Trains will not run, Taxes will not be collected, etc.

Term Limits.

Cut back ONLY mgmt. positions.

Exactly! With 32 months max left until retirement (sooner if they keep this BS up) I'm concerned to say the least.

Nothing new here. All posturing....same old thing. Anyone remember the Grace Commission on Feds?

Beware averages and other random statistics with no context. For instance, the office I'm in has been under a hiring freeze for a couple yers. If we actualy had been hiring people entering the work force, our average pay would actually be lower and we'd be spending more on wages. Hiring freeze has actually substantially increased our average pay. There aren't any (GS) 9's or 11's round here no more.
