I guess the Philadelphia Area +3.85% increase is above mid-range.
In light of the economy, I'm feeling quite blessed, but not guilty in
the least.

FoxNews is reporting an opinion that Congress approval rating of
20% would more then justify each member to donate their raises
to Charity. Good luck with that ! I couldn't agree more.

I am getting, hoepfully, 3 step increases this year. And 40K in back pay. I'll be riding fat.

I think I need more GSs~

We could always use more GS'es. I've seen 1 QSI (the gift that keeps on
giving) in 18.5 years and 20 SSP's after taxes. Do more with less, work
smarter not harder etc.... etc....

But I got my just due. In 1995 I was promoted to a Correctional Counselor
I went from a GS8-step5 to a GS9-step6. For a variety of reasons in 1996
(after 13 months in the position) I requested a return to being an officer.
They granted my request, notified everyone and started to do the paper
work. Thats when they found out that policy dictated (based on time in grade)
that I was to return as a GS8-step9. Going from a step5 to a step9
in as little as 13 months was truely the gift that kept on giving.

But isn't it ashame that we can't even come close to the Salary & Beny's
that our State Counterparts make here in New Jersey. Or that our Union
(AFGE) can't even compete with the Postal Union when it comes to health
care premiums. I know all about the differences between the two. But its
still a shame none the less. Never fear ObamaBear will make things right.

One small note- Postal Service gets to negotiate health care premiums- no other federal unions can. for the rst of us, health care premium is stuck as a part of Title 5. Perhaps under the new administration that will change, but it's not very likely.

One other thing to note- under the most recent Postal Contract, the premiums for my HMO are not aot different for Postal and Non-postal. Only on some of the national fee for service plans do postal folks get a break, and even then it's not a real large break. Postal folks are still paying more this year.

Postal isn't what it used to be for cheaper health care premiums.

Washington D.C. got the biggest raise- 4.78%, then San Francisco, and New York.
