    Default PAYROLL PROBLEM ALERT!

    I GOT THIS ALERT TONIGHT- 9-26-2014 .

Appears to affect at least 22,000 federal employees so far.

    CHECK your bank accounts!

Below is an important message AFGE received from the Office of Personnel Management concerning your paycheck this pay period. Please read it carefully.

    G
SA has encountered a problem with the Payroll Payment files for Pay Period Ending September 20, 2014 that would have been deposited today, September 25, 2014. We have confirmation from Treasury Financial Management Service that some of the salary payments are being rejected by financial institutions across the country due to a payment indicator type (Checking vs. Savings). This issue is impacting all EFT payment types to include salary payments and financial allotments.

We are urging all employees tocheck all of your financial institutions and verify that ALL of your payroll related deposit(s) have been posted to the appropriate accounts before withdrawals or other automatic disbursements are made. If you have financial allotments that route to other financial institutions, these deposits need to be validated as well.

Some financial institutions may be able to reverse the transactions and post to the correct account type. For employees who have both a checking and a savings account, the financial institution may post to the wrong account, so the employee will need to move the money from one account to the other.

GSA is working closely with Treasury and financial institutions to minimize the number of rejections. As GSA learns more details of how rejected payments are being handled, we will immediately send additional information.

We deeply regret the inconvenience this problem may cause. Please be assured that we will work diligently with Treasury and financial institutions to correct the problem and minimize any negative impacts. If you have any questions, please contact the GSA National Payroll Branch Customer Service Help desk via phone at either 816-823-3900 or 1-800-676-3690, Press 1 and ext. 33900, or Press 2. You may also contact them on email at kc-payroll.finance@gsa.gov.

Thanks James. Who is SA and what agencies does this affect? Not everyone knows what the AFGE is talking about. They are not the only union representing FEDS and your pay agency/HR site is not the only one FEDS use. TIA.
