I have a question with regard to this calculator. It shows debt per citizen as $38,742.00 and then debt per taxpayer as $110,024.00. There are more "taxpayers" than citizens, so shouldn't that number be LOWER than the debt per citizen block?

I think the "illegal immigrant" block is grossly understated. I think there are closer to 25-30 million.

So, if I send a check to the treasury for the per citizen amount, would I be free and clear of further interest charges? When my kids become taxpayers, they'll have to pay their per citizen amount, which would be about twenty times the amount today because of the miracle of compound interest, right?

If I were to pay the per taxpayer amount, would my kids be exempt from the per citizen amount?

What's really scary is the figure in the lower right hand corner.

    Liability per citizen. $343,478

I see...so if that amount were paid by a citizen, then they wouldn't be liable for further interest...right?

I believe it means that if everyone paid off all their debt including the government the deficit would be zero in the USA. Everyone would be out of debt.

I had a dream recently...one of those "wish fulfillment" dreams, where I won the lottery and held a press conference to discuss the growing national debt. I told the assembled members of the press that I was making an after tax payment on the national debt for myself, my wife, my children, and several other members of my family and I didn't want to hear anymore about not paying "my fair share" of taxes. Then I woke up, got dressed, and left for work.

Like I said, it was a wish fulfillment dream, but I am working on manifesting that right now!
